Groves says Haye is looking spectacular in sparring

By Scott Gilfoid: British/Commonwealth super middleweight champion George Groves thinks fellow Hayemaker Promotions stablemate WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s) has been looking spectacular in his sparring sessions to get ready for his July 2nd bout against IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s).

Groves says that Haye has even hurt some of the guys that he’s been sparring with. However, Groves doesn’t say who these sparring partners are and doesn’t mention what they did against Haye or if they were taking it easy on Haye in order to play the part of the sparring partner. As

fans know, sparring partners aren’t supposed to go off on the fighters that they’re hired to spar with. It’s kind of like a big taboo to try and KO your employer, know what I mean? When sparring partners do try and knockout the guys they’ve been hired to spar with, they’re often kicked out of camp. Haye has been said to be sparring with the talented Deontay Wilder and David Price.

Now I can see Haye hurting Price, because he’s got a shaky chin, but not Wilder. I think it would be a reverse roll if the 6’7″ Wilder started letting loose with his right hand artillery on Haye, because he’s got better right hand power and is much taller than the 6’2″ Haye.

    Speaking with Sky

News, Groves said “He’s [Haye] been spectacular. I think his sparring partners have been struggling. David’s buzzed a few, and a couple of others have hit the deck but none of that counts for anything when you get in the ring.”

It sounds like Groves isn’t quite sure about Haye and his sparring partner success. I wonder if Haye is the one telling Groves about his success with his sparing partners. Somehow I can see a scenario like that. Groves getting his info straight form the horses mouth but through a giant distorted filter of what actually did happen in the sparring sessions.

I tend to turn a blind eye when it comes to this kind of media - Groves wouldn't say Haye looks like **** would he?

Saying that - I know Haye will be in great shape for this fight.

  3. Unusual he would say such a thing.

"He hit me with a right hand that would have knocked a horse out. It buzzed me" - David Price.

David Price reckons David Haye will beat Wladimir Klitschko – Boxing news

The 27-year-old David Price, who recently knocked out Tom Dallas in the second of the British Heavyweight title eliminator match, reckons the World Boxing Association’s World Heavyweight Champion David Haye will beat the International Boxing Federation, International Boxing Organization, World Boxing Organization and Ring Magazine’s Champion, Wladimir Klitschko on July 2, 2011.

David ‘Pricey’ Price, who has won all 11 of his fights including 9 by the way of a knockout, has been sparring with the Hayemaker, David Haye before his fight which was held last Saturday on June 11, 2011.

The Liverpool’s pugilist, Price, told the media that sparring with Haye was a wonderful experience for him. He added Haye is a very professional boxer and does the things the best possible way.

Price believes the 30-year-old Haye has a completely different class from any other boxer at the moment. He also admired his speed and defence.

While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “Everything David does is so meticulous. It is good to see that type of professionalism and it can only rub off on me, especially as he is someone I look up to. He is a different class to anyone else I have sparred with. His speed is incredible and his defence is better than people make out.”

The former 2008 Olympic bronze medallist, Price, continued and said one cannot make any mistakes against a fighter of his class. He then commented on Haye’s punching power and said one good shot from him is a game over for anyone.

“You cannot make a mistake at any time because you know he will make you pay. I think he will beat Klitschko. It will be intense but if David lands a good shot and jumps on him it will be over,” said Price.

The Londoner, David Haye, who has won 25 of his 26 fight including 23 by the way of a knockout, will take on Dr. Steelhammer Wladimir Klitschko in a unification heavyweight showdown on July 2, 2011 in Hamburg, Germany.

Let’s see whether Haye can really outclass one of the best heavyweight warriors in the world or not.

If I was a sparring partner in another fighter's training camp, and that fighter was trying to hurt his sparring partners to make a statement, here's what I'd do: I'd wait until the last days of sparring and then try and lay him out. I'd either get knocked out in the process, or even better, send a message that I'm the last one you try that **** against by knocking him out(or at least having the session stopped) Yeah I'd get kicked out, but at least it would be at the end of training camp. And should I ever face the guy in a fight it would be great pre-fight hype that I lit him up in training camp.
