No. I'm with the other posters in the thread who've suggested doing 4-man unification tournaments in any weight class with established belt holders.

 

I think they will have to alter the format but im all up for more, the Supersix has overall been a success in my eyes despite it taking too long and all the pull outs. The super middle division looks much better than it did and theres more exposure in the division with the potential for more big fighjts after the comp is over.

If I had to pick six from a division id pick one out of the following:

Theres a lot of potential at middle with the likes of Pirog, NJikam, Geale, Sturm, Lemiux, Golovkin, Jacobs, Macklin, Rubio, Barker and Lee but i cant see Martinez signing up for a comp at this stage in his career.

At welter you could have Berto, Jones, Zaveck, Solomon, Senchenko, Brook and Abregu to choose from. Mosley could be coaxed now hes on the slide and possibly Ortiz if he takes a beat down from Mayweather. Add to that some of the light welters who may step up and it could be a decent tournament. Again ive excleded Mayweather and Pacquaio as they wouldnt do it.

I think lightweight could possibly be the best bet and easy to makefor the stage of the boxers careers and exciting fights it could bring. Again im excluding Marquez as a very long shot and Im not sure about Guerrero but I think six from Soto, Katsidis, Antillon, Vasquez, Rios, Linarex, Diaz, Murray, Escobego and DeMarco is achievable and there would be some great fights in there.

The MW division had all the potential a while back to come up with a top prospect challenging Sergio: Pirog, Golovkin, Jacobs, Barker, Guerrero and N'Dam, but Showtime never had any intentions doing such a great showdown. Paying all the champs would be even more expensive, I don't think we'll ever see a S6 as strong as the current one.

I think normally a super 4 format would be preferable. However, don't forgot about the 'Ring' champions as well. Say there was a super 4 at middleweight between the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO belt holders. Are we really saying the guy (Martinez), that most people recognise as the true middleweight champion would be excluded? I think LHW is the division most conducive to a super 4 format.

I'd make changes to the contracts though, All fight venues agreed too before hand. If it's a champion vs challenger situation the purse split is 55 - 45, and finally if you withdraw then you're inelligeble to fight until the Tournament is over.

Cruiser. Its a weight class that hardly gets any attention and the guys are big enough to have some ugly KO's.

 

of course...i think some posters prefer watching boxers carefully select their opponents until a big payday comes up. This is the exact reason why the longer the tournament is, the better. Look at Kessler now. The guy is hand selecting opponents & can duck a guy like Bute.
