I was told they may be considering Japan, Gamboa was recentely there and liked it.John stays in the asian enviroment.
Japan is a solid boxing arena and fans over there appreciate good fights ,so it could sell well.Working out TV deals,HBO could show a replay later due to hours difference.
And will clear doubts about who's the best featherweight .:happy

Gamboa vs John in Japan, sounds good to me. I hope they can all agree and make it happen.

Hey, why not! If Japan it is, there will be decided the fate of the FW division. Although US looks pretty neutral venue to me, both come from a different country and have US promoter but hey, the Japanese just love a great fight and this is one. And you can always put a proud Japanese champion on the undercard, Uchiyama vs. Yordan let's say.

A fight like this should take place in the U.S. esp. for these two who have had some accomplishments in there careers is only smart to keep getting their names out there to the public in the states, esp. for Gamboa since Juanma's lost to Salido.

i think John is refusing to fight in US maybe because of the Rocky first fight outcome.I dont know. And Gamboa's team doesnt want to hear about Indonesia-wich is completely understandable.
I love the japan idea, like u said they can put a good undercard and have a great night of boxing.

im REALLY surprised Chris John has finally taken on someone on his level, towards the latter stages of his career. He's got wins over Rocky Juarez and JMM, but that was the only notables. Much respect for this move....

This will be the first "puncher" at a high caliber he faces

Great fight, but John get's TKO'd anywhere, anytime against Gamboa. Is this just rumors? Where did you hear this? Hope it happens, Gamboa will finally be the " official featherweight boss " !!! ;)

But I will only believe it when the fight is signed as John has been running from Gamboa for a while now...

And with GOOD reasons !!! :blood

He has a win over JMM a long time ago, along with some other descent wins. But yeah, his resume is as strong as one would think when mentioning a FW Super Champ and with many many title defenses.
