for people that like to quote dan rafael when it suits them, I think he scored it for Hopkins. So there's that.

PNoyFightFanUSN - Who's quoting Dan Rafael? The quote was from the late great Jay Larkin. The quote is actually a little bit longer than that.
End of the day Calzaghe had a better title reign than Hopkins but Hopkins didn't want the fight then. When it happend Calzaghe won and it was bang in between some of Hopkins best wins. Calzaghe threw over 800 blows in that fight and are you telling me he wasn't connecting with at least 1 in 4?
As for the guy talking about Calzaghe only winning because he's white, take a look at Mayweather - Castillo 1. Calzaghe was never given a decision where the majority of boxing media thought he lost. Anyway don't bother trying to start a race argument. This is a boxing forum.

:huh Is pressuring Bernard Hopkins and throwing flurries of punches really "beating him at his own game"?

I don't remember Hopkins, especially the older "more complex" version following opponents around flurrying at them and outworking them despite not landing the more effective punches, as you acknowledge Joe did not.

    Do you?

If you like a fighter that stinks the place out and tries to cop a DQ because he's under pressure and gassed then yeah I can see why you might have Hopkins as the winner .

Joe landed more shots than Hopkins - end of, like I always say - if Calzahge was a US citizen you would be running him for president next year ,

but you hate him - cos he's British :good

It's obvious... If Frank W or any promoter for that matter agrees a deal on the spot, then it's obvious that they could have got more $$$. Although this much is obvious, it's poor form to back out of a fight when your demands have been met.

Make no mistake about it...Calzaghe didn't slap Hopkins 232...He ***** SLAPPED Hopkins 232 times!
As a man if you slap me I'm gonna go drill you in the face. BHOP didn't have the same attitude. The man got slapped 232 times, and apparently wasn't man enough in that fight to engage. Calzaghe's "SLAPS" were apparently hard enough to keep BHop from attacking. So, that means there ***** slaps.
BTW: Not hating on BHOP (I hated him in that fight though). I'll admit I loved his willingness to fight against Pascal was legendary. IF he would of fought Calzaghe like that he'd probably would of won!

Hopkins lost clearly....he had Calslappy on the deck and did nothing but chicken out.....had he moved up his aggression, he could have easily stopped the weak Calslappy......But Calslappy was more of "the man", on that night.

    Pathetic fight for Hopkins.

yes, everyone's against the brits. if we like something, we americans usually adopt it as our own. see pacquiao for an example. i guarantee more american boxing fans would be rooting for pac than floyd if they ever fought. american fight fans wouldn't have stood for the competition joe fought for most of his career.

It's just one of many examples which shows you that Compubox shouldn't be taken seriously.
