This is obviously a dream fight but i'm only posting this because you gotta a lot of Floyd Mayweather fans on this forum and this forum is basically Calzaghe's forum. So, if we took Mayweather from the the Marquez fight and transported him back in time and had him fight Calzaghe at his best with Mayweather having the same speed and elusiveness that made him great in the Marquez fight, could he deal with Calzaghe workrate better than Hopkins could? I would love to hear this from everyone on this forum.
I'm just talking about skills, that's why I said a dream fight because obviously they would be the same size because Floyd ain't gonna fight someone who's too big for him. Could Mayweather outbox Calzaghe and neutralize his punchout put, yes or no?
It doesn't work like that, their respective skills depend often on their size. Look at Lennox Lewis, a Top 5 ATG heavyweight, if we would size him down to welterweight he would get beat by everyone because he was stationary and a head hunter. We can't do that, it's not logic, heavyweights don't fight like welterweights or vice-versa.
Yeah but Calzaghe isn't no real big guy and he also has speed like a smaller guy, so you can make a case for him. He's definetly faster than Jaun Manuel Marquez.
But who would win, because better skillset doesn't always mean you win the fight. Could Calzaghes boxing ability and workrate neutralize Floyds skillset?
