Wlad's "problem" with the yanks is that there are no credible US opponents for Wlad. Nobody in the US wants to see some Ukrainian fight some Russian. No matter if Wlad was the most exciting fighter on the planet, noone in the US would ever want to see him box guys like Chagaev, Povetkin or Dimitrenko. It just doesn't sell.

HBO offered Briggs a 3 fight deal if he beat Vitali. That's how desperate HBO is to get another US based belt holder.

Did HBO get excited about Lewis because he was an exciting fighter, no matter what opponent he fought? Or because they were able to line up a series of US based opponents for him. If Lewis started his title reign today against this landscape of non-US contenders he wouldn't be fighting on HBO neither :deal

His style is boring and his fans overrate him and are generally kunts...I'm sure he's a nice fella but I have no interest in fighters other than their in ring performances.

Wlad is a nice, respectful guy which has always been obvious to see (unlike his brother). The fact of the matter is that he doesn't excite people, what's so hard to grasp about this.
His fans are crazy, and show real insecurity when it comes down to how he is percieved as a man and a fighter. Trying to sell him to anyone who'll listen, and insulting people who choose not to be a fan. Mad.
They can't live with the fact that he simply isn't appealing has a fighter to a lot of boxing fans. Regardless of how nice he is as a bloke, it's what he does in the ring that matters to most people.

I don't dislike him as a guy - he comes across very well (when he's not trying to be funny), articulate and a good ambassador for the sport.

I just don't like him as a fighter.

Personally, I think K2, Kessler, Pacquaio, ODLH and the pre-coke Ricky Hatton were great for boxing.

Good athletes who seemed like regular guys and who weren't arrogant, loudmouth idiots.

You could put them on camera and they wont act like jackasses. Well, Oscar is back and forth on that..

However, that's not for everyone. Some would rather see someone like...say...Mayweather or Mayorga running their mouth. Like you can't be a good champion without broadcasting to the world that you are big pimpin and thugged out to the max.

So, for the haters, I think:

    This is the main reason.

    This is another reason.

    Yet, another reason.

And finally.. the biggest reason.. I think is because he won't fight this guy:

The main reason people don't like him is because he's white?

    REALLY?

I could think of many fighters which are equally "boring" yet they don't get the constant **** vibes here on the board.

Calzaghe was terribly boring in many fights. So was Ali. Dawson produced so many snoozefests. Heck so has Floyd. All these fighters were leagues and bounds above their opposition skill-wise yet they have a style that is not pleasant to the eye.

Why don't all these fighters get the constant "boring" label stamped on them like Wlad does? You can't have it both ways.

For some reason some people love to use double standards for fighters they dislike and those they love. Must be hard to measure boxers with fair and rational standards but heck, if it was so easy to remain a rational fan the sport wouldn't be what it is!

I'm British and there is nothing to dislike about Wladimir as a man. He comes across as a thoroughly decent, amiable and likeable human being and no doubt if this was a humanity match he would be faring up much better than my compatriot!

However, as a fighter he is synonomous with one of the most despised tenures in boxing and can be partially (if not wholly) credited for the demise of the HW division. It is not Wladimir's fault that his contemporaries are poor, but the way he fights those contemporaries is boring and has helped turn one of world sports greatest events into an irrelevant semi spectacle, ignored by all but a handful of fanatical supporters.

Neither Klitschko brother would be near a belt in bygone HW eras. Whether their domination is the cause or product of this stagnant division I wouldn't like to say, but it does need to be ended, and like him or loathe him, Mr Haye is the only man at this moment that has a good chance of doing so.

If he was black everyone on ESB would be worshiping the guy as the second coming.

I think there is definitely a racial component to his acceptance in the US.

That sounds like it was written by one of the many sad fan-boy hero worshippers on ESB.
