Tarver has a full on death wish taking this fight Green outpointed the excellent Flores , Tarver looked horrible in his last outing , Green is fresh and Tarver is as shot as it gets Its a terrible fight for Tarver
How can you have forgotten they were fighting when you made the videoatsch Stop leeching fraffic from this forum you no mark:twisted:
Tarver like most boxers who become commentators feel that watching some fights close up makes them think "well I can do that too or he can't beat me" etc (Sugar Ray, Lewis, Roy Jones, and now Tarver)
you guys saying tarver is in trouble are idiots. While I'm happy for green and love the guy to death, this is tarver's fight to win. He doesn't have to make 175, but isn't coming in at a weight he clearly didn't belong in. Even at 42, tarver coming in at 195 at 6'3" vs greens more likely 190 at 6'1" means tarver gives up nothing to green. Green relies on being the stronger and more aggressive guy in there. While flores is a big guy, he's not a ferocious fight or big puncher. He's clearly not the pure thinking boxer that tarver is, so he went tit for tat with green in OZ and got edged. Tarver will hit green clean with **** that danny doesn't see coming and will move in angles that doesn't let danny get set. Green will see it thru because he's nails, but no way he beats tarver. He won't hit tonio with anything flush enough to KO him ala roy, and tarver is too crafty for greenie. Kudos to green for taking this fight, but it's tarver's fight to win or to give away.
I agree with MOST of this. Tarver is a slick SP, and a crafty veteran. This weight should be good for him except for his greatest asset, his footwork, may be slowing down abit. But I don't think Green is the type of fighter to take advantage of that. I don't see Tarver blowing Green out of the water, but I do expect him to pull of an upset MD or SD. It'll be a close fight either way. If Tarver was 5 yrs younger we wouldn't be giving Green a snowballs chance in hell at this.
Just wanna point out that the age factor shouldn't be THAT great of an advantage on paper, afterall Green should by rights be past his prime also at 38.
