I agree with this... At 140 he was a beast. I think that was his ideal weight. From 147-154 every fight seems like 50-50 to me.

That is a interesting way to see it. I like that.

Cotto always been one my favorites, would love to see the 2007-08 Cotto back.

He needs to retire. He is past his prime, taking too many shots, and will never achieve more than he has previously. For me it's not a loss as I don't want to see a skilled fighter getting his brains beat in by a Contender alum.

IF Margarito beats him down again in DEC Cotto should defo consider it...
IF Cotto can fence/cautiously somehow survive 12rds Vs. Margarito & win also a good retirement chance.

IMO, He is one good WIN/Loss away.

He has 2-3 big performances left in him. It's funny how people throw the shot card around(Cotto is NOT BTW) yet if this were the older days(40's,50,60s, and maybe 70's) and Cotto was a big name then, people wouldn't fear for Cotto's health so much as they do now. Cotto is a grown ass man and yes it's sad how some boxers end up like Jones & Echols but he has NOT really been ko'd(stopped yes but not down for the count) and is not shot. He decides whether he wants to continue or not and the man is not shot he still has something left in the tank. I'd say he make a few more defences and/or beat Chavez then call it a career. He's had a lot of tough fights but like I said, that was to be expected in the past and that should be something to be proud of unlike these so-called "fighters" nowadays cherrypicking there way to the top and/or cherrypicking names while they still are big names. The only name I can think of that Cotto could've fought is Williams, that's it though he still could've won that with his hard punching and Williams' lack of defense though Cotto has been lacking defense his career too(he's working on it now but it's a bit too late) and Williams at the time could've ended him.

  8. i think he should get his rematch wit margarito first

  9. Sounds like he doesn't want it anymore.

Cotto isnt old yet he is only 30 but has taken some beatings and been in several wars.
He seems like a smart guy that takes good care of his money and business outside of boxing, there is no need for him to take punishment anymore. you can tell in the mayorga fight he was more focussed on defense more than usually. this is done with steward to prolong his career and dont take unnecesary punishment at 154, cotto should fight like this and have 2/3 more figfhts maybe retire in late 2012 or early 2013, no need to take beatings and end up with bad health in several years.

I still feel that Margarito doesn't deserve the fight. Plus there is nothing in it for Cotto, it's a lose/lose situation after the beating Margarito received from Pac.

revenge, redemption, and im pretty sure that if cotto beats margarito we might get to see cotto vs pac 2 to give cotto a shot at complete revenge, that could be miguels last fight. margarito/cintron/pacquiao all at 154, something like that, i personally wouldnt mind.

I love Cotto but he is damaged goods. His peak was the Margo fight. Watch his speed and reflexes then and compare it to every fight since.

I hope he rematches Margo, beats him then grow fat on his $$$ and puerto rican cuisine.

get his revenge against margarito; then win over Cintron for the linear title, and a farewell money fight againt Alvarez. that would be a fitting closure to a good career.
