If this was to be Burns' next defence (After this weekend of course) then who would you have and why ?

Personally i'd have Broner to beat Burns right now. I know he's had only around 19/20 fights but I think he looks very very good. Not just this weekend either I have seen a bit of this lad, however the performance on Saturday against Ponce De leon was a very good one, especially considering his age and relative in-experience

i thought the De Leon fight was a draw at best for Broner.

I missed this fight, but caught the highlights on sky thi afternoon from the flashes i did see i'd say he takes him aswel.

He looks quite big at the weight and is quite fast in spurts.

Think he may end up defending his title against him if he manages to defend his title a few more times, its more likely aswel because he has picked up WBO inter continental title.

he seems to think he is Floyd mayweather at thi moment in time, i did laugh when i saw him getting his har combed at the start of the fight.

    Is he Al Haymon managed?

Bad style match-up for Burns. Broner wins for me.

I think he'd beat Burns, but he looked very flawed against Ponce De Leon IMO. Personally, I thought De Leon won that fight by 2 rounds.

There's no shame in being in a close scrap with a seasoned proffesional like Ponce De Leon though. I think that Ponce would smash Burns if ever they fought, and I'm quite confident that Broner would outpoint him.

Fair enough. I don't really think having home advantage in this kind of fight. Crowd may be able to pull you through in a war but Broner (In my honest opinion) is a classy skillful fighter, and would win.

I must admit i'd like to see him up the tempo at times mind, lazy ****er.

Burns would have his hands full.

They're definitely going to milk this title until he's forced to face another top opponent.

just seen on the scene Roman Martinez vs Luiz Cruiz is a final eliminator taking place April 16th. So Burns next fight will need to be the winner of that unless he makes the unification with Fana.....ir even a quick defence on the May 21st card.

Broner. Burns' team would never take that fight.

    I felt he lost.

I still favour Broner to beat Burns, but it's definitely not a cert.

I think it's difficult to predict.

Litzau has always been a candidate for being banged out early (or at any time) so I'm reluctant to go overboard about Broner beating him.

Still, PDL has beaten a few decent fighters......

What would concern me is the lack of experience that Burns has against top fighters, he's only fought one after all.

Even Billy doesn't believe that Laryea would beat Gary Buckland. He might make it out of the first round mind.

Why are so many people having a go at Ricky Burn and also billy nelson on this site. Now I think the that Burns can beat Broner by out boxing him and keeping it at distant boxing but if its a tear up Broner wins . Now with regards Ricky opponents Billy Nelson is correct sports network pay a lot of money to there match maker to make bouts that there boxer would have the greater chance like all match makers unless it is a manditory challenger and it is a short carrer so hopeful Ricky Burns get some more lesser opponets and make a lot of money before he has to fight the top 6 boxers . Now I no its hard but try supporting the boxers from Scotland and all other nations as thats what they deserve
when they enter the ring . also what Buckland last night and he looked good for four rounds then tried so dont think he would be ready for Laryea yet but should go for commonwealth first and get some confidence
