Looks solid, well conditioned. Hard punching.

Future dominator of the low-middle weight classes.

he has ticked most of the boxes for me.

I would like to see him throw the jab abit more

See him on the back foot against a pressure fighter and his inside work

Have a bit more urgency for the stoppage when there are clear openings

i don't know why but this is the 3rd time i seen him and still not impressed. he lacks something. he just throws a combo, resets and stalks. his fights bore me to be honest. he is good but takes too long to take the fighter out of there

I like all those you just mentioned except J Diaz...

But yeah... I'm a fan of canelo maybe you might admire him at a later date.. he is still young and developing. He still has a long time to go in this game.:bbb

I'm sure you would love to see him with cotto/cintron. I sure would to add some more history to the PR/MEX battle.

I was impressed with him last night. Rhodes was a legitimate opponent and he handled him very well. His combinations and body-shots were particularly impressive.

Considering his age, he's coming along nicely.

I know there's talk of fighting Angulo next - Mayorga has also been tweeting for the last few weeks that he's in talks to fight him in September.

Certainly someone has to say Alvarez is a bum...is overrated....is shot and should retire....IT IS THE RULE OF BOXING FORUMS! (It is the purpose for these forums to exist)

I hadn't seen Rhodes fight before so I was basically going off what I had heard. That he was an awkward fighter with good power and speed in both hands who would frustrate Canelo with his counter punching.

So someone tell me, Was Rhodes never gonna give Alvarez trouble or did Alvarez just shut him down? or a bit of both perhaps?

I thought he looked good. He controlled the pace, Showed improved head movement and had good hand speed and wasn't reckless. Although I get the feeling he could have finished him sooner if he had jumped on Rhodes earlier in the fight.

The best part he is only 20, he has a long time to get even better.

there is no reason for canelo to fight angulo when bundrage is available. angulo is a tough out for anyone. there are going to set up a paq fight.

    it's about the money.

always has been, always will be.

a pretty good fighter does everything well but nothing spectacular. The kids hype is out of proportion to his talent.....a novelty really. The best thing he has going is the red hair and being Mexican, has appeal acrosss many boarders, but in reality he is nothing special beyond what I just mentioned. Fed the mediocre contenders in todays talent thin world of boxing and matched correctly they will pull suckers in, but he is not an elite or incredible find in terms of boxing ability.
