If Ray Leonard did give a rematch to Hagler and fought Pryor?

  1. how would these two SUPERFIGHTS turn out ????/

I believe Hagler would smoke Leonard in 1 rematch , he would not take him lightly,

and Pryor would have his shot aswell with tht vicious workrate

    Your thoughts????

Lol, its always funny when Leonard haters post, like Leonard was nothing .. Leonard was the greatest fighter of the last 35 years, there is no denying that .. The only fighters that come close are Roy Jones (never had the competition), Pernell Whitaker (never had the style) and Floyd Mayweather (never had the guts for a proper fight) ..

Hagler retired because he realised he could never have the speed to beat Leonard .. Pryor was never a 147 fighter, and would have been killed by Leonard, its alright beating a a great lightweight like Arguello, but taking on Leonard is ridiculous for Pryor. Pryor lives in mythology as a great fighter in a very light 140 division, but he never beat a Duran, Hearns or Leonard in the pro ranks .. History treats Pryor too kind in matchups at 147, Leonard would have no trouble beating Pryor, too good, too skillfull and too slick .. Leonard aint no obvious Mexican or south american

Hagler would beat Leonard in a rematch in 1 round ?? LOL .. Did you not see the first fight ?? Hagler was gone in that fight, the signs were there in his fight with Duran, how is he going to do a 'Tyson' on Leonard in '88 .. Thats ridiculous, Hagler retired because he was smart enough to realise that even in a rematch he wouldnt have the speed to beat Leonard .. Leonard waited to go for Hagler at the right time, knowing that Hagler needed a fight with Leonard to cement his legacy. Hagler had a style that would degenerate fast when he got slower, like Cesar Chavez, and would look bad, he wasnt a stylist, he was a brilliant work - horse, who's time had ran out by the time he fought Leonard ..... But dont feel sorry for Hagler, he got his biggest payday by far when he fought Leonard, and to be frank he bottled it in those early rounds when he started switching stance's and losing rounds. He was spooked by Leonard, all those years of envy got to him on the big night

let me clear that up: it's how he (aka sirhenrycooper) types. when he says "1" he means "a". so he'd beat him in a rematch, not one round

I think both Leonard and Hagler do better in a rematch, Leonard was rusty, Hagler perhaps fought the wrong fight but he'd always struggle with Leonards speed. Mayeb Leonard would steal rounds without front running so much and leave more energy in the bank. Maybe Hagler would turn it on earlier - although thats easier said against a speed demon

Same 7-5 result for Leonard :D

Hagler was done by '87 .. A brilliant fighter who was coming to the end at that point and was only going to get slower .. His style was not a style that could continue past its prime .. Hearns, Leonard and Duran had boxing skills, Hagler was all about being tougher than the next man, but that ability decreases when you get old .. Hagler would have beaten Leonard any time before 1985 .. After 1985 he had slowed, and Leonard saw his opportunity to get Hagler's name on his record .. Hagler fans hate this fact, but fail to acknowledge that Hagler got rich off fighting Leonard ..

Hagler fans, stop moaning .. Hagler didnt have to take the fight .. He took the fight, lost and got the payday of his dreams that set him up for life .. Dont feel sorry for Marvin, he knew he was in trouble if he didnt get the KO, and he didnt get close ..

Pryor was a helluva fighter, but i chuckle at the posters who try and insunate Leonard ducked him or might have lost to Pryor... No way i dont see it,..... I dont see how he would beat Leonard,, hell even if Leonard fought Pryors fight(prime Leonard wouldnt) hed still beat him... Pryors defense was flawed and he can get away with that when overpowering good(but not great) Jw... Or against the smaller and slower Arguello (Under suspicious circumstances).... BUt against a bigger, faster atg great like Leonard who could punch(power underrated) .. He would find that he would bite off more than he can chew,, Hed hang tough for a while but, he was so open and reckless hed get caught big by Leonard... And for as great as Pryors chin its not like if he want hurt bad before (see Dujuan Johnson,Arguello, and dropped a few othertimes) (wont count Bobby Joe Young)......... I think early Leonard boxes Pryor and uses his reach advantage fightiing much like he did vs Duran II... DOnt get me wrong here Pryor is real game in the early mid rounds,, although he eats shots and goes down (flash).. He succesfully gets in on Leonard and wins a few rounds,, even stunniing the bigger Leonard... BUt by the mid rounds Leonard would be timing Pryor more and more, an hurting him... Pryor goes balls out and fights courageously, but around this time Leonard decides its time for him to do the same thing... Leonard stands his ground and turns it up a notch... Leonard was so great at turning on the killer instinct at the perfect time.. Leonard Ko 8.

AT the time he fought Hagler.. Marvin was going down fast... Leonard slipped alittle to after that too though.... Marvin would have to get an immediate rematch and even then im not sure, although i can see Hagler pulling off one last hurrah and coming in like the beast that kod Hearns.,, any longer layoff than 6ms or a year and Leonard would have repeated the decision.

Great post. I agree with everything.......as for a Leonard - Hagler rematch, I agree that Hagler would need to get it within 6 months or so. If he came in and didn't **** around in an orthodox stance for the first 4 rounds, I'd give him a good chance of taking the decision.

I cannot see Leonard having the energy to fight Pryor during the time he fought Benitez, Duran and Hearns. It was just too much competition for one guy As it was he fought the best guys he could in a short amount of time. I don't think the Hagler rematch would have ever taken place. Ray could not have put on that great an effort again and Hagler might have come in sharper without as much rust. But still Hagler was at the end of his skills when he fought Ray. The Hagler who fought Hearns would have been too much for Leonard. And Leonard knew it.

Leonard UD, Leonard TKO middle round.

Pryor got knocked down a lot -- balance problems as much as chin -- but Leonard would swarm him after getting him in a trouble spot and the ref would have to make the call.

by the way I didn't answer what would happen if Ray fought Pryor. Ray would win by late knockout. I assume this fight would be at 147.
