Sometimes its fair to bring up pertinent points imo.

Roy Jones beat James Toney and as far as I'm concerned, and Toney forfeited the right to complain about being out of shape.

Toney should have the right to complain take away, cause it was the biggest fight of his life, and HE! is the one who sold himself short by not training adequately, so why should Jones have his props taken for beating what was put infront of him? Jones trained for the best James Toney, so IMO, Roy should get full respect, and Toney should be rightfully judged on that performance irrespective of weight issues.

That said, I do think its fair to point to the fact Hopkins that Jones beat, is not equal to beating Hopkins of say..... 2001.

True. If you don't look it, then age is not an excuse.

a fighters ego tells them they are unbeatable so they have to justify a loss anyway they can, ricky hatton is a prime example

this is so true, a perfect example of this is Degale losing to Groves, everybody including Degale needs to accept he is just not as good as he thought he was and theres no excuses at all, unlucky Degale!

i don't mind boxers make excuses after they lose. some are valid anyway. what is bothersome are the fans making up excuses for the boxer even though they admit after that they lost to the better fighter.
