What is it with boxers not taking a knee

Mayweather. Even though he was dominating Hernandez. He did take a knee because he broke his hand. Didn't really see why it was necessary being the result would've been the same if he didn't.

 

WHAT?!?!? are people saying??.. take a knee!!!! If you want to win, it doesnt hurt... its better than being KOC'd.... you might not clearly think of it while trying to win a slugfest but if you're badly hurt.. it makes sense

 

if he took a knee hed be in the next episode of the chin checkers glass hearts but now hes most likely be in the next glass jaws so either way hes in a lose lose situation

Why isn't Gary Lockett brought into different fighters' training camps for specifically this purpose? If anyone knows how to take a knee with grace it's Locket..

The man is prepared in case he ever gets knighted, he has taken a knee so often.

It's not sparring its an actual fight. Sparring is for you to learn and learn from your mistakes in an actual fight taking a knee esp in a situation like that is a SMART move and most old school and vet fighters would do that esp when they know they cant take a punch and they are already hurt in the corner and against a faster stronger opponent who has a good punch.

So to you taking a knee is unacceptable but if he took a knee and some how out boxed Broner and won a decision would that be unacceptable instead of getting embarressed and KO'd in the first round?

So dumb you are clearly the one that never boxed before.

And another example of a fighter that should have taken a knee was Friday when Steve Forbes was stuck against the ropes and he wasnt throwing back and tried to clinch but couldnt and didnt take a knee and instead stood there and gave the ref a reason to stop the fight and now he's been stopped for the first time in his career. I expected more from Forbes bein such a seasoned smart fighter to know he should have taken a knee.

If Meldrick took a knee after that first right hand hurt him and he got backed into the corner then he wouldve never gotten hit with that huge right hand that put him down and out pretty much. There wouldve been about 6 or 7 seconds left and I'm sure he couldve survived those seconds.

But you cant really say if the fighter def wouldve won if they took a knee unless it's examples like that in the last round with the fight pretty much over. How many countless fights have guys gotten stopped earily in fights because they were against the ropes and taking punches and not throwing back or clinching or defending themselves and the ref stops the fight or they get caught and KO'd. Who knows what happens if they take a knee there and get a few seconds to recover and also get your back off the ropes and give yourself room to move.

Weather they can come back and win or even go the distance cant be answered but its better then getting stopped and not even giving yourself the chance to recover and try and comeback.

 

Also if Liakhovic wouldve taken a knee against Briggs instead of laying on the ropes and eventually falling through them and being counted out he couldve gotten up and won or at least went the distance and put it in the judges hands.esp when he got knocked out of the ring with 2 seconds left.

 

Yeah your right its better to go down from the opponent teeing off on your head and not getting up then going down on your own will and getting your wits back and still having a chance to win.atsch

boxers should be more willing to take a knee but its not easy taking a knee, doesn't feel natural in a ring.
