I know it's crazy money there will be a few AFL players with their noses out of joint I would think

I know I am a staunch league fan but I don't think I'm being optimistic by saying that the game is firmly entrenched in NSW and QLD.

I do agree the game as a whole could be better managed. It's very profitable but the problem is half that profit has to go to News Ltd instead of back into the game.

To me its sounds like the Teams dont benefit from any TV money.

Unlike the AFL were they get there fair share.

Mate i follow both games. And enjoy both so to the League fans are saying oh he cant make it he has no chance. Good luck to him blah blah blah.

But tell that to the many Irish fella's that come over from Gealic Footy.
Now if it was you in Hunt's shoes and you were offered say $300,000 a years for the club you have done everything with.

Or you were offered 1 million for a game you never have played but there wont be a huge amount of pressure on you in your first year of Football because you are playing VFL.

    Mate its a easy decision.

O' Hailpin actually played hurling at the highest level rather than Gaelic Football, and he holds the record (I think) for the least amount of lower grade games before making his AFL debut. So there is no doubt Hunt will give it a good shake. And if he is successful then maybe the floodgates will open..............

but would he have ever been able to command that money if he had played AFL all his life. League gave him the profile to command those dollars whether it be AFL,union or super league.

But you are right about the kiddies though - very hard coz i dislike AFL played league and union here and overseas but i don't think I'll be signing my 3yo up to league or union. Too many 10 year old 100kg maoris running around in under 11's:admin Should be called the MRL

He'll go ok in VFL but won't stand out, he'll look to break the contract after a year and play Union in France with SBW, Gower etc

I dont know why your angry at the Vic, they arent the one who
poached Hunt from the NRL - that was QLD!!

Victoria as a state are fully behind both codes, the AFL footy show
often have Storm players on and try get viewers to get behind their
NRL side, other states play them off of each other.

If Vics lack individual thought, then how does this explain the fact
that the AFL (which formed in Vic and used to be called VFL) is run
far far smoother than the NRL (which formed in NSW or QLD) which
is in tatters and falling to pieces.

the clubs get millions from TV, it is around 3.5 million a year off tv alone, but they sign a long agreement, because of the super league war and Nine got it cheap and so did foxtel because news corp has a 25% of the company and so did PBL at the time it was all nuted out, league screwed it self a little and now they can't compete in the money stakes, but the news agreement it will alot better because league it king in 2 states with over 10 million people living in it, The money will increase big time, I hope AFL goes into westen sydney it will be the biggest disaster and will cost them millions of millions of dollars

Speculation last night from Craig "Punchy" Hutchinson on the AFL 9 Footy Show that Hunt would likely be receiving upwards of $700K per year for 3 years.
Not bad for a bloke who can throw a ball sideways while running forwards.....
