Mayweather Ortiz will probably generate the most $.
Hopkins Pascal II would probably be the most historic moment of the year.

Probably Haye Klitschko or Ward Froch, but we don't know yet. Floyd and Pac (should) beat their opponents. Many figured Hopkins would school Pascal but the circumstances surrounding it and controversy from their first fight/hype could edge it in.

 

Another fight possibly vying for contention could have been Khan-Bradley, hopefully it can still happen late this year.

Mayweather vs. Ortiz. The sports biggest self promoter against the victor of one of the most exciting fights on HBO in recent memory. It might not be the best fight of the year, but it will have the most buzz.

The Klits are boring, Haye is unknown outside boxing circles, Pac vs. JMM has been done already (twice). Pac vs. Mosley was a yawner, Hopkins/Pascal II was decent and the Super Six just isn't as big as most hoped it would be.

Should I? What's in it?

Anyway, Donaire-Montiel will probably go down as the only fight this year between two legit top 10 P4P boxers. Well, Pac-Jmm are also both top 10 P4P fighters but in different weights. And Ward-Froch are borderline top 10 P4P'ers.

 

Depends how you measure "big". PPVs and if so - in which countries? Viewing figures? Size of crowd? Numbers of channels viewing the fight? Wordwide interest? General buzz outside boxing circles? Of couse all of these factors in but how much respectively?

1. Haye-Klitschko. I do think Haye has at least a bit of a name outside boxing circles. I have some friends who don't follow boxing who've heard of him because of his attention-seeking antics. The face-off has really generated hype - just look at the amount of threads created after it! - and two big nations (UK and Germany) are involved. Wlad's TV figures throughout Europe are very big and Haye's PPV:s against Valuev and Harrison sold very well I heard. It's been long overdue so there has been time to build the fight. It will be massive!

2. Floyd-Ortiz. Floyd's the biggest draw but his opponent is not very well-known. Had it been Khan or especially Alvarez he'd be facing (look for these fights to be made in the future), it would pass #1.

3. Cotto-Margo - if it comes off. The first one sold reasonably well but here in Europe it wasn't THAT big. The controversy sorrounding the first bout is extreme and it was a cracking fight. Nobody will miss it (even thogh both are very faded) and NONE of them would want to lose! Look for the face-off to be the biggest one yet. If you build it up properly with a lot of fottage of the forst fight, Cotto's face and the confiscated wraps along with some real animosity (not fake like some others, this would be REAL!) you've got a big event. Two big boxing nations too which are rivals just like Klit-Haye.

4. Pac-Marquez. Could be #3 too. Just like #3 a great deal of controversy. Will Pac beat his "arch-rival" and nemesis? For me personally without doubt the most intriguing fight of the year and their first two fights were cracking! Marquez' name has got bigger and bigger - he's now one of the big stars in Mexico and has met cash cow Mayweather which always helps. Should be #1.

5. Froch-Ward. Neither are especially big in their home countries. Shame, because they are very good fighters. Should be higher really. Let's see how Showtime and Sky builds it.

6. Vitali-Adamek will interest a lot of eastern bloc countries and the opponent is well-known enough in UK and the USA. Not a grudge match unfortunately.

Bute-Pavlik could be #7 if it comes off (Loewe wanted another tune-up I heard?).

Of the ones we've already had, Pac-Mosley slots in there somewhere. Horrendous fight so I really don't want to name it. Hop-Pascal didn't garner that much attention I feel. Well, sure, the aftermath was great because of the legendary feat, it attracted big interest as usual in Canada and the fight was good enough but... No. Khan-Judah will be bigger.

Perhaps Martinez-Chavez jr or Chavez jr-Cotto? Unfortunately Chavez jr is not known in Europe even though I can hardly speak for all of the countries, but that's my impression.
