 I was predicting an easy wins for Jones years ago. Now Id say you put Valentin in the cage too and hed beat both in a handicap match.

I want to hear all the people that said Reem would destroy Jones, you know who you are. Dont let me bump a thread.

Fckk yeah. Werdum was clinching and kneeing him all night:lol:

With the striking Reem showed Sat night, an old Fedor would beat him to pulp.

Are we talking a 205 Overeem against a 205 JJ?
If so, then yes, JJ would spank that ass.

However, if you're talking HW Overeem, then JJ gets stopped (assuming that he takes the fight at his walk around weight of 220). Jones doesn't have the guard to make Overeem tentative on the ground, and he won't flop on his ass after 10 seconds on the feet. Plus, Jones won't have the size advantage like he usually does.

I can see Overeem clinch, trip, and pound Jones out.

Now, in a couple of years as Jones fills out his frame, I can see him beating Overeem.

    No.

Jones may well get KO'd on the feet, but there is no way in any dimension of reality that Overeem puts Jones on his back.
This would not happen. At all. Ever.

I could very easily see Jones getting a take down from some distance, and if the clinch does happen, that is where Jones' best take downs come from. But the only way Jones ends up on his back in this fight is if he's already out on his way down.

I agree. One sub par showing and the guy is obviously a fraud. Lets ignore the fact he actually beat one of the top 5 heavyweights in the world, and had been blazing a trail of devastation. The guy is clearly a hype job and JJ would brutally expose him

I didn't say he wouldn't beat JJ, I said there's no way in hell Overeem would put Jon Jones on his back unless Jones was already unconscious.

    This:
    Would NOT happen.

Against LHWs yes, but its one thing to ragdoll Stephen Bonnar but its another thing to try doing that to someone like Overeem.

Now, I've done judo in the past and know that the possibility of the above happening is not completely out of the question, but, TBH, I think Overeem's looked impressive mostly based on his newfound strength and his tendency to overpower to opponents.

And for the record, I'm not that crazy about Overeem's standup. The dude had the easiest road to the K1 title (Badr Hari wasn't competing, Spong was undersized, Saki was injured, Schilt got outpointed, and Aerts was out-of-prime). Despite all that, Overeem still got rocked by a JAB from Tyrone Spong. Keep in mind that Spong was a cruiserweight who was in the process of moving up. People thought that Overeem would murder him 30 sec into the first round. Instead, Spong made Alistair backpedal and WON the first round.

I'd agree with you if Bonnar was the only guy Jones had ragdolled, but he has thrown around literally everyone he has fought. I'm not saying he'd be throwing Overeem around like that, but I am saying that Overeem wouldn't have a prayer of doing that to Jones.
From memory Jones has never been on his back for any significant period of time in any of his fights. And that's against guys with some serious wrestling credentials, something that Overeem does not have. Simply put, Overeem would not be putting Jones on his back, no matter how much horse meat he has eaten.

What are you asking Chimba? Young Reem at 205 or both men throw down tomorrow?

Overeem has improved as a fighter over the years, most fighters do, I think he has reached his potential, while Jon Jones will continue to grow, learning through trial and error.. Jones is only a beltholder at this point, let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet. He has to defend the title, which is what makes one a champion.. He could get KTFO by Rampage later this year.. Which means Jakes on YOU :!:

A lot can happen in Jon's career from now until he becomes Overeem's age, 31. You never know, he could be a stepping stone or just another contender by that point.

P4P.. Jones is the more complete fighter, but a little crazy to think he can move up to HW in his next fight and beat Overeem.

Why the hell does Jon Jones need a guard that is equal to Werdum's to make Overeem tentative on the ground? You really think if the fight went to the ground it'd be in Jones' guard? For ****'s sake, this Jiu Jitsu 101 and basic reasoning skills!
