    he played Hurling for Tipperary

    I remember i was in work and a lad from tipp said he was at the boxing the other night and i was like wtf? then he explained that he just went to watch Matt fight :deal

    He does some work on Irish tv from time to time as well

    Not on Irish TV so not much buzz around the fight. Except for Irish boxing fans not many people know the fight is even on. There won't be any professional boxing on RTÉ (national broadcaster) for the foreseeable future either:verysad

    If it was the other way around, I think many people would feel the same way. I couldn't imagine a boxer say from Cork who openly admits that he considers himself an Englishman to be too popular either.

    Not that I agree with that attitude, just saying.

    Bit of a difference there, "we" never forcefully invaded and occupied England.

    Now if it was a guy from Cork with two say French parents and was saying he was representing France but proud of being from Cork as well I think the Irish would still support him. Maybe I'm wrong.

    I can hand on heart say he is the best shape of his life. No flus, bugs, niggles, excuses!

    He is motivated and it will be the best Matt Macklin that there is - but will that be good enough? Time will tell.

    I thought Gevor beat Sturm a couple fights ago and I think Macklins better than him.A robbery is highly likely but I can just see Macklin stopping Sturm late.Hopefully it happens.
