Would HW Boxing benefit from Haye Winning?

It would but it does nothing if he retires right after like he keeps on saying.

 

It's going to take moe then some foreigner winning the belt from another to revitalize the HW division. Haye winning doesn't change the fact that it's pretty shallow in terms of talent. Realistically, we need another Tyson to come along and inject some excitement, even if it's against puffs. But that's not gonna happen.

 

It would set up two more fights bigger than this one, so yeah it would be good in that respect.

No. (watch Haye vs Valuev or Haye vs Ruiz , Barrett for example)....none of these fights are exciting. What the HW division needs ? more fights like Brewster vs Liakhovich. In other words , more awesome match ups.....styles make fights.

What the HW div needs is entertainment. Haye knows how to sell his fights but once he's in the ring , it's a different story...It's not necessarily his fault...Valuev for example , tends to have boring fights vs anyone.

More epic battles a la Brewtser vs Liakhovich...that's what the HW division needs.

 

What HW needs is some competitive fights between the contenders. Imagine fights between Haye, Adamek, Povetkin, Helenius and Solis. But somehow most guys are satisfied by fighting bums and then cashing in on a loss to Klitschko. Disappointing.

Haye-Vitali would be another huge event. So yes, it would be better for boxing.

 

I voted the explode option, but it's more of a tremor than an explosion. It will set up one maybe two big fights.
But Haye winning is definitely the best option for heavyweight boxing. It's the only way we can get a unified champ.

 

It would help, but hw boxing won't "explode". Haye would bring interest with his mouth and probably turn the fans against him and the division could use a good villian (see Mayeather, Khan, etc.)

 

Khan isn't a villain, people just look at something he gets quoted from an interview and think he is trying to call out every fighter, and he gets hated on for having ambition and wanting the bigger fights in the future.

As for the thread.

Not really, if he plans to retire around October or whatever he said it was, it is a pretty pointless saviour in my opinion.

 

IMO, A Haye win put's a nail in the coffin of HW boxing (This era)
Considering David has reported he will retire shortly after.

A Wlad win, Brings this era that much closer to an end aswell considering Haye was the last of the legit threats to the Klits.

Either way July 2nd will be a sad one of sorts for the HW's.

It won't change the fact that the American audience doesn't have someone to root for. Haye isn't going to be any bigger than the Klitschkos here. It'd probably be worse for the division seeing as how he keeps saying he's retiring soon. If he wins then does that the HW division loses it's former champ (Wlad), it's then current champ (Haye), but has no more serious contenders. It'd just revert to Wlad being the champion though his legacy would take a hit most likely.
