you've confused "the truth" with your "opinion".

& there is no way he lost that fight to reid.

what is your definition of "given fits" btw?

"maybe one of the greatest fighters of all time, based on his record"

    That's slightly different to:

"Joe Calzaghe is the greatest fighter of all time" - as the topic title suggests!?

    :huh

How many ATG's did Calzaghe beat in his prime? How many great proven fighters did Calzaghe beat?

I would have loved to have seen him in the super six.

Greatest fighter of all time is Steward ****ing kidding me?

He didnt lose to Reid and Hopkins. He actually won both fights cos I remember watching them and the ring announcer said he won :deal

Also, he murdered Starie and just because he took a knock down against salem doesnt mean he gave him fits. Calzaghe was a tear-up fighter anyway.

Kessler had every other SMW belt at the time and was undefeated and considered, and still is, a dangerous opponent. Lacey was 'the new mike tyson' so fighting him at that point was a massive challenge. the mitchell fight, calzaghe showed a never say die attitude and EARNED respect! Jones would have beaten him in his prime and eubank was at the end of his career... but it was still a challenge for the young, inexperienced calzaghe.

show respect where its due :thumbsup

Calzaghe is not an ATG, but he WAS a fantastic and exciting boxer.

he would have beaten everybody in the super six, including that over hyped walnut Andre Ward :deal

Calzaghe beat Hopkins 9-3 or 10-2 in rounds. Giving 2 rounds to old Hopkins for hardly throwing punches is in fact very generous.

His closest fight was to Reid and that was Calzaghe not preparing for the fight much more than anything Reid did, because Reid was a fairly standard level fighter.

Kessler was the closest major international fight he had his entire career, and when Calzaghe is asked to mention the two best fighters he has faced he consistently mentions Kessler and Eubanks. Calzaghe looked like he could be losing for the first 6-7 rounds until he went to the body and pulled away.

Against Lacy he won every second, but that was no surprise, just because some clowns thought Lacy was a great fighter for beating old (and never was good) Pemberton, had a close fight with unknown and poor Wiggins and so on. Anyone with half a brain knew that Lacy was a fraud all along.

    This is ridiculous.

I can be on the classic discussing the validity of a couple of joe gan's title defences then I flit over her and find a thread passing off calzaghe as the goat!

    It's beyond mental.

That being said he makes my top 50 by default just for being the greatest smw of all time. I place him 50.
