Well, in fairness to @Mendoza - I am fond of these types of comparisons, and I think this thread is already proving interesting. I won't accuse...
Maybe not, but I maintain he probably had a stronger case than Gomez.
The one that jumped to mind for me was Adamek when he moved to Cruiser. Ironically, Adamek's subsequent jump to Heavyweight is the polar opposite.

Somewhat strange then, that he was ranked following the loss to Byrd. I know a lot of people thought Oquendo deserved to win that one, so I guess...
Oquendo faced Byrd in 03. Oquendo was Top 10 at the end of 01, 03, and 04. I imagine he probably must have been Top 10 in the month before facing...
Also Akinwande, Tyson, and Grant.
Tua only beat Rahman once, and I don't believe Moorer was top 10 when Tua beat him (although Oquendo may have been, but not sure on Ruiz, either)....
Moore-Durelle I (closely followed by Foreman-Lyle)
Hopkins was old at 175. He still did well all things considered, but you gotta favor Foster at 175.
I'm not sure on his worst performance, but his best performance for me was Hopkins. He out Hopkins'd Hopkins.
