Johnson did not think much of Sullivan, prior to himself he rated Fitz as the best.Sullivan has only a punchers chance here.Johnson boxes him silly.
Lewis,Foreman,Ali,Holmes. Wlad?Vitali?
He was 208 for Jeffries,17lbs lighter than for Willard in which fight he had a roll of suet around his hips and a big ass!
He was 31lbs heavier than when he won the title.
It's all a matter of opinion and yours is obviously as valid as mine.Maybe more so?
"Rolling back the years" Joe managed it for one final stand.FOTC for significance, TIM for legacy.
Good post encouraging to see quality from a newbie,a couple of them haven't really been too special lately!
I agree two undefeated champs one bang in his prime the other not too far out of his but ring rusty.
Duran had fought just 20 days before the De Jesus fight I doubt he was significantly out of shape,I'd say in better condition than the 33years old...
I wasnt that impressed with Laing,he threw lots of feints but rarely followed up on them and Duran was too out of shape to do anything about...
But several did give him uncomfortable moments.Buddy Baer,Galento, and Mauriello being 3.
Armstrong missed a few guys at Welter,Burley,Williams, and Cocoa Kid being 3.
Johnson is more proven over longer distances with quite a few 20 rounders under his belt Willard has a couple.I think a prime Johnson would have...
Neither man ever went that distance,so given that a 37 years old Johnson was clearly in front after 20rds I don't see why Willard would win.
Not so sure he would though.
