It might be overused but I disagree that it only applies when fighters are close in skill. It can always apply but it might not be as noticeable...

Round 4 is hard to score. Some crisp shots by Teo at the end but was outworked.
Teo’s defense is not the best. Looking leaky. Maybe because he’s being so aggressive. He looks sharp offensively though.
Fighting for quite a while at welterweight did that to his KO percentage. Just not big enough at that weight.
