There's something poetic about that. Here Margarito probably got famous because of using loaded wraps and willfully could have killed Cotto. Yet Pacquiao shows mercy after he has him subdued. There's a lesson in that.

I only watched it once but I don't think Manny was carrying him as such, he realised he was in with a bigger harder punching man who could hurt him, whenever he did go after Marg he got uppercut for his trouble and got on the backfoot more to box smart. I call spin

I believe the brave, outmatched Margarito simply never faltered enough for Pacquiao to close the show.

Regardless, this quote reminds me of referee Richard Steele's words after Chávez/Taylor (paraphased): "People get worked up because they don't understand boxing. They need to see someone get hurt...or death!"

It's now time for manny to call it a day, he's now getting banged about a bit & why give Void a payday, manny's the man & to walk away now intact would be the smartest thing as he's been in some wars all through his career........time to leave the stage:smoke

agreed. people seem to think pac allowed margo to finish, but seemed margo was still had enough left to stand, and pac couldnt put him away.

To me, it definitely looked like Pac intentionally carried Margo in the 12th, so as not to damage him permanently.

The few times he did throw, he was tagging his face at will.

Plus, I heard that on the Setanta broadcast, Pac asked Roach between the 11th and 12th, "Should I finish it coach?"

and Roach said "No, no, take it easy, son"

I can't confirm that because I watched it on HBO but maybe someone else can

He has blatant aspbergers. Seriously, y'all should not pick on him. Just enjoy his color commentary.

I agree this would be good for Manny (but horrible for boxing). Mayweather needs him more than he needs mayweather (legacy wise) at this point.

Was great stuff from Manny. At the same time, the opposite is always something revered and marveled at at the same time. In fact, almost more so because of inner tribal nature I guess. That killer instinct goes along way and has made for some rebelliously willful boxers.

What's great in this case is Manny clearly has all the will but he had the humanity to ease up. Not everyone has both.
