thats true.. but months of excessive training will bring the weight down wayy below 144.. unless you comsume 7000+ calories a day like manny while keeping your speed and power, then jmm is good. but jmm's training resume is not like mannys..
Marquez didn't really have much choice. When you're told 144 is the lowest we'll go or no fight, and it's your last chance at redemption (how small the chance is), when you happen to be as tough a mother ****er as Marquez you take it. Do I think it's fair? Not really. Do I think Marquez is going to do better than he did against PBF? Yes. Although the weight takes a bit of the shine off of this trilogy, I will stay hopeful that Marquez really just has a style that gives Pac fits (no matter what the weight), and at least keeps it interesting for a bit. I mean ****, can this fight really suck worse than Mosley, Margarito, or Clottey? I guess I'm able to deal the bull**** match ups, because I believe somewhere in the boxing soul, that Mayweather vs Pacquaio will still happen...
well if he takes less calories with less supplements, old school style hard work like how he started, then im sure 135 is no problem with the way his work ethic is. but i agree, there is only one fighter and its prettyboy floyd
Guys, Manny says he can make lightweight. That doesn't mean that a) he really can, or that b) he will look good at lightweight. Mature fighters don't respond well to coming down in weight. Manny would be stupid to go down in weight now just as Roy was stupid to move down from heavyweight to fight Tarver. Chill!
Peeps never gonna be happy with manny, 135,154,160 etc etc Jmm also want a title at a different weight remember, that adds to the fact he wants to beat manny up at any weight so let's see 144.150, 157(Martinez?) etc etc
agreed... but i think like most athletes that excelled in their chosen sport, the urge they had when they were starting aren't the same anymore due to the feeling of having nothing more to prove. It sucks for the fans ofcourse, but that's why we have upcoming talents to keep boxing rolling. We're talking about living legends (PAC, FLoyd, Hops) who gave us our most entertaining fights and thats why i'm giving them the "pass" of not doing what fans want. They've done their part as far as i'm concerned, and just hope they do what we want (as a bonus).
lol.. yeah im born n raised in manila so i check out the articles and news about upcomming filipino boxers and what not.. but i get bashed by ahundred loverboys in the forum for giving floyd his props and topics like this..lol.. they like manny @ 160! then when i share the facts them boys start kissing each other, so im out. it has really good articles though, ushould check it out
You think Pac still wanna do all those ****? He's practically just picking whom he wants to give a big paycheck. He's pretty much done enough and prolly think its not fun anymore.
Didn't Gamboa say he'd fight Pac if the match was made at 135? I would not oppose to that bout. Martinez should get Cotto. Gotta keep in mind that Sergio is trying to become a P4P king/cash cow and he can't do that by fighting Ward or Bute.
