Obviously because Pac is the man to beat and he calls the shot, not the challenger. And it's also obvious that Pac doesn't want to give up any advantage just to please your loser asses. . . . does Pac get any extra credit or medal for giving up his advantage if he loses? Nah . . . you guys keeps crying, get in touch with Marquez and ask him why he signed the contract. :deal
They could both fight at 140lbs quiet easily as both Marquez and Pac weight a bit more when they step in the ring but neither hold a title at that weight. They both might be able to make 135lbs but no fighter likes to ordeal of having to lose all that weight and winning another title at 135lbs would mean little to Pac. Fighting at 144lbs both are just below their ring weight and should Marquez win it would look better for his legacy to win a title at welter than simply make another defence of his lightweight title. So while the fight at 144lbs might be a very slight benefit to Pac as he would find it harder to make 135lbs than Marquez, it also favours Marquez as it allows him the opportunity to join a select few and win a title at his 4th weight.
Do you know of any other fighter that is expected to fight at 3 different weight classes at any time depending on who the opponent is?
well thats the thing, I dont think Pac needed any of these catch weights. He beats all those guys regardless of what they come to weigh on fightnight. The same people that ***** about Margo coming in at 150 tho, I bet would be totally fine if the fight was announced to be at 147 for Pacs titles. Yet they hear its going to be at a catchweight of 150 and they ***** about Margo being drained. The 150 limit for Margo only helped the guy, but i do agree they shoulda just let him come in at 154. He ended up rehydrating a ridiculous amount anyway, and likely woulda rehydrated up less if he came in at 154 (since he wouldnt have had to boil as much). Regardless, on fight night, Margo came in at around the same weight he would have if he had weighed 154.
What's the point of coming down to lightweight? He has nothing to prove at the lower weight class when his already whooping ass @ welterweight.
pac always gets all the advantages. and they complain about mayweather. now we know why this fight never happened between them. 2 fuggin egomaniacs. fug em both
Come on man. Sports should be more about fairness than about who has the right to "call the shots" as the draw. Pac is a good guy and it would have been nice to see him give a little bit up to appease an already disadvantaged challenger.
If he can make LW why has he been fighting at WW? There is your answer. Pac doesnt need to move down for anyone, he fights at the weight he wants to and 5 of his last 6 fights have all been at WW. Why should he then move down to LW just to satisfy a guy whos been begging him for a fight for years. Reporters are crap these days though. Why dont we ever see reporters asking these sort f questions, way up front, "hey pac, if you can still make LW why dont you fight him at LW, or at least at JWW". or "hey Pac, you say you fight for the fans, to make all people who love boxing happy, make them happy and call Floyd out right now to this camera and tell him your accepting his tests". Its not just to Pac, journalist are incompentent or just too scared to ask the questions.
JMM is challenging PAC...not the other way around. Floyd could have gotten down to 140 for the Hatton fight but Floyd wasn't challenging Ricky...Ricky was challenging Floyd. It's like having a champion getting introduced first and enters the ring first in the challengers own backyard. I'd much rather the fight be at 140 myself or 135 but it's JMMs legacy to solidify and he has to take the risk! PAC had to take all the risk to get to where he's at so it's no different than any other boxer who looks to become great.
Pacquiao-Martinez needs to happen.Pacquiao needs to fight someone at 154 not a catchweight.Martinez and DelaHoya are the same size yet Mayweather fought DelaHoya at 154.DelaHoya was coming off a great win over Mayorga so he was on top of his game.I do not see why Pacquiao can not fight Martinez apart from being a cherry picker.
