“If David Haye could guarantee that he would be fit for July 11,” Bönte said, “then we would probably have gone ahead and re-scheduled, but there is no guarantee and this is the worry – that it could happen again.”

“If the injury did recur, and there is no guarantee that it would not, it would leave Wladimir in a difficult situation, because if he then had to cancel again, it would mean … he would not have made a defense of his _title_ for nine months.”

Bönte added that Klitschko could fight Haye next year.

The Champion will fight on 20the of june against another worthy opponent.

Haye can recover from injury and than he can fight Wladimir.

    A "guarantee"? Really?

I get the argument but a guarantee is just words. There's nothing Haye can do to guarantee any sort of injury or re-occuring injury. If a guarantee was all you needed, none of us would ever get hurt.

To steal a Mayweather Jr-ism, "Make the ****ing fight."

Man, it works in their favor. A not 100% Haye is a beatable Haye. Take the fight.

Make Haye sign a contract that contains a HUGE fine if he doesn't show up. Then, he WILL show up, whichever shape. When losing "only for his injury", he can have a rematch any time.

And how many time should The Champ postponed the fight?

Wlad had to make his mandatory until 09/2009. He cannot wait too long for the fight. Wlad wait until June to fight Haye and now he pulls out because of injury.

The fight can happen later. But know Wlad must look forward and 60.000 people are waiting to see Wladimir Klitschko in the ring.

It's the fight everybody wants to see. Chagaev is an easy win for Wlad. Everybody is paying big money to see Haye lose. That is a reason why HBO doesn't want Chag-Wlad.

This is ridiculous. I was anticipating this fight so much. But Wlad CANNOT fight Haye. Too many reasons.

    - Haye got injured.
    - No guarantee that he'll be healed by july 11.
    - If Haye is "healed" fights and loses, then Haye wasn't 100% so it was easier for Wlad.

You can't guarantee that Haye is going to be 100%.

    Damn it Haye, why!!?

I kinda agree with Jisi on this one, noone wants to see another Vitali problem, where progress gets held up for a year. I dont know whats up with Haye, but if he truly wants this fight he will take Wlad on, on july 11th.

its better for Haye to heal himself completely and fight in the later time.
Wlad was generously friendly in his comment so i don't think sheduling
fight for fall will be problem.

How can he guarentee? How could Wlad guarentee he would be fit for July 11th?

Fighters get injured, it happens. You take the risk. Just because he got injured before doesn't make any difference. For all we know Wlad could go and get injured.

Hasim Rahman gave Vitali Klitschko 3 more chances after he originally pulled out. You take that risk. It's the same with any fight.

Absolutly right. The fight can be make later. Maybe Haye can take a tune up fight to prove he is ready to fight.

This fight is not out of the line. Haye is injured, he can heal his injury and than fight Wlad.

Haye and his people have already set Vladimir back once already: Klitschko canceled his normally scheduled March fight in order to fight Haye in June. If Haye can't make the July 11th date, then Vlad is screwed for most of 2009.

You guys are funny worrying about Wlad's year when he only fights twice a year anyway. The best case scenario is this; Get Chagaev or whoever to sign an option agreement to replace Haye on the 11th and then reschedule the fight to that date. Also have Haye pay a big fine if he can't fight on the date which is fair. Now, Wladimir doesn't get a rushed to get in shape opponent, people still get to potentially see Haye and Wladimir fight and if not then there is still another fight going. This also gives whoever, Arreaola, Johnson, Chagaev... a month to train for the fight if they are the one chosen.
