    I've read conflicting things.

    Some people are saying Vanda won a UD; some are saying Campas won one.

    TV Azteca is broadcasting the fight in 7 hours, so we'll know for sure then (or rather, when I watch it after Donaire-Montiel finishes up).

    I got to watch it after that spectacular KO of Montiel by Donaire. :scaredas:

    Yeah - Vanda was game and stood toe to toe but Campas really beat him up, almost exclusively with hooks and uppercuts and nary a straight punch to be seen. Vanda did rock Campas once with an overhand right but for the most part it was Yori Boy being first and landing the harder, cleaner blows and far more of them. Vanda was just overwhelmed but never stopped trying. Campas still showed some decent speed for a man his age and plenty of aggression. Considering he was throwing hard power punches for 10 full rounds, impressive stamina for his age too. He still has a fairly imposing physisque. Vanda was just all heart in the later rounds, throwing desperately and getting hooked every time he opened up (a few of them straying low and bouncing off his cup, but it comes with the territory). Campas looked serious in there. The unofficial Box Azteca scorecard had Campas losing only one round, and the judges had it unanimous (although scores were not read). The two embraced warmly (almost collapsing into each other) when the bell sounded to end the tenth. The 22-round rivalry has clearly left them with a great deal of mutual respect and admiration, Gatti-Ward style. Bring on the rubber match!!

    Example of a fighter not knowing when to quit, somebody should be telling him to hang them up. He'll end up worst than Ali health wise if he's not already there.

    He was couple of years ago here in Finland and had a good fight against our Amin Asikainen. He was still very tricky and competitive opponent. Of course he wasn't same Campas what he used to be but.. He was still pretty competitive like I said. And he seemed to be nice guy. Asikainen TKO'd him in the seventh round and joined to those few people who has knocked out Luis Ramon Campas. There was stupid things after fight: Campas claimed to U.S media that he slipped and right after that Asikainen hit him with suckerpunch and he wasn't even hurt but referee came and wawed it off but unfortunately there is a place called youtube and well.. Heh. That wasn't the truth.

    But yeah, He is/was a great warrior and hopefully he can reach his goal!

    I'm definitely rooting for Campas to get that 100th win and then retire before he suffers any long term damage. The thing about Campas is that he's not looking to get to the century mark the easy way. He's not fighting top rated guys but he's facing guys on a similar level to himself. No one would blame the guy if he took an easy one or two to help get to 100.

    It has been Arum who has been in cahoots with the people that promote Campas (as Campas has appeared in tons of Top Rank cards) to screw Campas of earnings.


    $10,000 for a urine test? I doubt very seriously it cost 10,000 in Mexico to do a urine analysis, in fact I know it does'nt cost that much, not nearly.:-(

    Just yesterday I was posting in a thread about Genaro 'Chicanito' Hernandez going through some tough times with his cancer having spread.........

    ......there was praise and admiration being thrown in that thread to Bob Arum for helping in paying Hernandez' medical bills.

    Hernandez' has been very appreciative of what Arum has done for him as he should be........but God forgive me (and I did'nt post this on the thread about 'Chicanito' for my pure respect of him)........
    .......but my thoughts as I was reading an LA times article that was the centerpiece of the Chicanito thread, was "yeah, Arum is helping out Chicanito Hernandez, but at who's expense?"

    Arum has robbed and cheated so many fighters like Campas, Arum is helping Chicanito out with tainted money. Money Arum stole from fighters that fought under his banner.

    $10,000 for a urinalysis is'nt even the tip of the iceberg of what Arum has pocketed and snatched from fighters like Campas who through his career probably only made a small percentage of what he should have been paid.:-(

    Yori Boy goes for #97 this Friday, against Gustavo Octavio Castro.

    Southpaw "Tayo" (whose nickname is a shortening of his first name) is eleven years younger and two inches shorter than Campas, and has been stopped three times in his last 8 bouts - coming most recently off an absolute beatdown at the hands of Michel Rosales.

    Castro's best opponent to date has been Marco Antonio Rubio, against whom he lasted just over three minutes.

    This is a must win! War Yori Boy!
