Instead of #100 for Campas, it was #11 for Cota.

The young homegrown prospect won via TKO when referee Jose Maria Zavala halted the contest at the end of the eighth round.

Damn... the Expresa Tren missed a station
But it keeps on rollin', next fight should be the big 100 then!

    P.S. BR says it's #10 for Cota... 10-0, 10KO.

    99 - 16 is a heck of a record.

He has a points win as well. It's listed on Boxrec as a "Newspaper Decision" (what they used to have for old-timers a century back when there were mo judges, and are always counted separately from the "main" win/loss/draw record), which I think is just a placeholder they use when they don't know the particulars about a points win ie the scores, names of the officials etc. Or someone at Boxrec just goofed.

    Next time, buddy.

Yeah, you heard that right - next time! :happy

I honestly think (even without having seen the grisly end to this one, with no video having surfaced yet) that Campas should not take this as a cue to retire straight away. He's just so damn close.

He could/should just square off on some undercard in Mexico for peanuts (as usual) against a feather-fisted tomato can to see his task to completion. I'm talking like a "can't punch out of a paper bag", 2-17 with fifteen knockout losses type. Nobody can begrudge him that, after the hard road that's brought him this far. Anybody who does really doesn't deserve to be called a boxing fan.

    Great thread!

I knew he was in the 90's but didn't realise he was just 1 off the ton.

Let's start a movement to get him in with Bundrage to reclaim the IBF Light Mid title (OK maybe a bit far fetched).

Alternatively take temporary retirement until Hector Camacho Jr has a son ready to make his debut (hell of a weird trilogy - Hector Camacho Jr Jr anyone?)

In all seriousness though it's a hell of a record, hell of a life, hell of a man.

    Keep us updated IB :good

Id like to see him rematch Camacho Jr, that would be a great 100th win for him and I think he could beat Jr. Whats funny is he fought them both back to back and Sr. actually did better than Jr. imo even at near 50. I thought Yori Boy won it

    Uno mas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :happy

YBC is trying again for #100.

This time it will be journeyman Mauro "Golden Fist" Lucero - who is 46-13-1 (32 KO's) but has been stopped in three straight.

It's going down next Friday, March 30th.

It might not be televised. :!: I will update either way...
