This is prolly the strongest card ever in Kazahstan......Shumenov vs Berrio and Chop Chop Corley and Karmazin on the undercard.Should hope it's televised.
If what they're saying is true, it won't be because apparently Shumenov is pretty protective of getting too much footage of himself out there for opponents to scout. Or so the story goes, anyways. Frankly, in all my time as a boxing fan, I don't know if I've seen someone like Shumenov- matched quickly, already promotes himself, and actually doesn't want as much exposure as possible. All I know is I can't wait to see how things turn out for him, starting with Berrio this Saturday. Man, I'd love to see him knock off Erdei in August.
Byron Mitchell, trying to win his 3rd straight fight to improve his standings in a bid for one last title shot, had those chances put to rest today. Shumenov stopped him in 4, with Mitchell's team throwing in the towel to save their man from further punishment.
This guys un-****ing-believable i'd say its about time HBO bought in on this guy. get in early to set up a dawson fight for a year or 2 down the road.
Unless something changes, I think he's still campaigning to fight Zsolt Erdei for Erdei's open date in August. If he can get that fight signed, go onto Erdei's turf, and come back with the W, he'll have done boxing a huge favor by taking the lineal title out of hibernation and back into play. All by his 9th fight.
r u sure Erdei wants anything to do with Shumenov? he hasn't showed the desire to face anyone remotely close to Shu's apparent class, and i'm kind of sketched out by Shu promoting himself, i mean the world saw how hayemaker handled making a fight at the top level, but if it is Erdei at least I could get a dvd of that fight most likley
That's the $64,000 question, my friend. I wish I had the answer to that, but all I know from Beibut's end is that he's apparently willing to travel and is campaigning hard for the fight. It's not going to look good if Erdei ducks a fighter with only 8 fights but still has a better resume than some of the people he's defended against. The only realistic fight that Erdei could take that makes more sense than Shumenov is right now is a third match with Garay. Outside of that, Shumenov should get that fight- but I'm not going to hold my breath just yet on it.
It's great that he's splitting his time between Kazakhstan and Las Vegas/U.S.A. Establishing a presence over here in the States early on like this will be really beneficial later on. I can't wait to get a look at him; hopefully he'll be able to come through a little better than Kid Diamond.
