Joe Frazier comes to mind. The ******* pushed for 15 rounds nonstop, taking punches, and weighing 95 kilos. I don't know if anything like that has ever happened.

Who do you consider to be on the podium?

Sanchez. Right up there with him is Pedroza and Saldivar. Harada too. Myung Woo Yuh for sure.

I’d pick them before I picked Frazier, as much as I like Joe.

You never really see guys below 160lbs gas out? It’s always more notable at HW so they come to mind. I’d say Fighting Harada? but I can’t say that, when at his weight basically everyone can fight 15 rounds… he is among the busiest? Patterson never gassed out above 175lbs and threw murder punches a lot, healthy sign of extreme fitness to me. Usually for these athletes the reason they succumb to immense pressure and visually fatigue from say a Fenech type is the mental toll of decision making, work, work, work the other guy just keeps coming and your imagination is on overtime trying to think of creative ways of getting out of the way and fighting back without being predictable. Watch Phillips vs Tszyu… it’s being calm that makes the difference, Toney doesn’t come to mind for this question for many but watch him vs Rahman who almost broke the HW punch record against him as an obese old man… checkout Toney vs Jirov, Cus correctly said boxing is 75% mental. everybody is typically in 12-15rd shape if they’re at that level. Troy Dorsey was probably the fittest boxer I’ve ever seen though, his style was just throw as many punches as possible.

For such a big man, Jess Willard showed a lot of stamina in his KO 26 win (3 minute rounds) against Jack Johnson.

There must’ve been a high level of calmness for guys like Jack Johnson, Jim Corbett and Sullivan they’d fought very long bouts that were basically marathon pace fist fights, it isn’t the stamina that impresses me it’s the ability to anticipate and to be creative enough not to be predicable for that long, when you win typically you’re one step ahead and doing that for hours is extreme you’d need to really understand boxing to spend that much time in the ring with someone and not have them figure you out. Deep reserves of know how and tactics without a doubt.

On top of that, Sullivan-Kilrain went 70+ rounds in the sweltering summer heat of southern Mississippi. It was recorded at 104 degrees, and I can tell you from spending my entire life in the South that the ‘real feel’ with humidity factored in would have easily reached 110 (we were at like 95 last week and real feel was 103).

Practically inhuman to consider the fortitude on display in that scrap.

As for your earlier comment of not seeing fighters gas below 160 pounds, back in the days of 15-rounders the first 10 oftentimes were just for fun, so to speak, so see who had enough left for the true championship rounds of 11-15. Guys like Arguello and Sal Sanchez and Wilfredo Gomez were just chipping away to degrade their opponent’s tank to see if they’d find it empty when mattered. Larry Holmes is another good shout there.

We lost something special when title fights became sprints rather than marathons, and guys from the earlier days of to-the-finish and such probably chuckled at 15-round title fights as being just enough to start getting warmed up.

In the modern 12 round era, i am impressed with Usyk too. Really good stamina and i like how he ups the work rate late in the fight.

    Hi Guys.
" The longer the fight went, the stronger he got "
" Most fighters slow down after 10 rounds or so, not ****, it was a sight to see "
" No Matter how many punches he threw, and he threw plenty, he never seemed to tire "
" He looked the same after 15 rounds, as he did after 1 round, not a mark on him, and his hair still in place "
" After 10 rounds I couldn't raise my arms, his arms were still flailing as if the fight had just started "
" He would be better suited fighting 20 years ago, where they fight to the finish, few would finish in front of him "
    is the mist clearing......
    stay safe guys.
    Mike.
