¿Could a motivated Tyson Fury (Wlad K and Wilder II fights) clear the 70s?

He'd lose 2 fights badly , then he wouldn't fight anymore

Would that version of Fury with his mental health issues and propensity to get out of shape be able to handle fighting up to 6/7/8 times a year in an environment where you can't hide to become the number one contender?

Would he be ready to go 15 rounds in open air arenas with high humidity and having to throw high volume of punches and then do it again two or three months later, whilst flying to another country fighting in someone else's backyard?

 

That isn’t really true. Ali was having like two to six fights per year. I see no reason why Fury would be high volume either. He fought a lot like 70s Ali.

 

No, I don't think he'd handle that amount of activity.

 

He would have scored big wins but not sure about cleaned out.

 

Mix of big wins and losses, only beat 5 ranked opponents and went life and death with Cunningham.

 

Ali was a former champion - the run he went on from '71 - 74, I just don't see that Fury does anything similar in a bid to gain the title shot.

I've never seen Fury fight like the Ali of Kinshasa, Zaire or FOTC. His activity level in fights is of a level that would've caused him issues had he had to contend in an environment where there was one champ and really nowhere to hide if you wanted the title shot.

 

You mean he'd "retire" after the first loss, claim he was robbed, return to lose again. The retire wone more, crying about robberies again.

 

Fury can beat all these guys best for best. He'd never be able to replicate it in practice because of his discipline issues but if he is magically allowed to come up to every fight at his absolute best he COULD beat everyone here. I imagine Holmes and after that Foreman would be his toughest fight.

I totally agree that the fight was boring, but that doesn't mean Fury couldn't go 15 rounds.

 

I don't think so , he's never really fought 12 hard fast give and take rounds much less 15. Put Joe Frazier in his grill and he'd melt like wax as the rounds went by.
