It was a rumor for a couple of months, but now it's official, Lucas is going to box again. And he want's a piece of Marcus Beyer, the german who took his belt back then. Let's hope he can bring his game at a better level then of his last fight against Kessler in 2006.

I saw Lucas at Bute's last bout against Joppy and he was over 200 pounds, but it seems that he's trainning for 3 months now and should start sparring just after a couple medical exams.

This is a surprising situation because Lucas, who is the owner of Interbox and also has parts in a couple of sports bar-restaurant, don't really need the money. It must be passion for the sport and a bit of frustration towards Beyer ( Sauerland, I should say ) that brings him to the ring again.

    Good or bad move ?

i heard this on CKAC this morning.

Maybe he "don't really need the money" but he sure as hell wants it anyways! Its not like he's super rich and i heard him already in interviews saying that it was incredible how much money Bute was making now and he even sounded a little bit jealous because he wasn't making as much when he was a boxer!

I just hope he is not thinking about being a world champion again. He looked done against Kessler. He wont be better now...Beyer would be ok.

There is no way he can aim at top guys in any division, but, he could go out in a better situation. Lucas was always good for boxing and boxing was good for him, so, I wish him all the best and hope he gets what he's missing.

I think it is more that Kessler was simply better rather than Lucas being completely done.

I don't know what to think about this come back. Being french canadian Lucas is my favorite but I'm not sure where he goes with that.

And what if he is dedicated and works very hard to get back at his best, and maybe, even gets better than at his prime.

Could we give him a couple of years before he retires for good... 37 is the new 32.

And maybe, he could get another shot at a title.

Not against Kessler, nor Bute obviously, but for any other belts available.

Or maybe he tries to go at 175 and see if he could beat anyone in the top 20 to top 10.

We could have two belts at the same time, in the same division either SMW or LHW, for Interbox.

Anyway, I think Lucas is just planning to have fun doing what he likes and that he needs more adrenaline before he pulls the plug for good.

Who knows, he might still have it.....

Trust me he hasnt got it anymore,he's 37 with almost 3 year layoff,he is done. How could you think he can win a title?Did you see him in february at Bute vs Joppy,he was about 220 lbs,he can't make 168,175 is gonna be a problem too.My boy Leonard Dorin is saying that he will make a comeback ever since the Gatti fight.Eric Lucas should stay retired, watch his health,he was a great fighter, tons of respect for him

A fight against Beyer could make sense but it's only for him and the $$$. For the observers it's clear he hadn't lost in Germany anyway.

Two shot guys getting it on - one more time...that seems to be the favourite nowadays...

A parallel here is that both are coming back from bad injuries (both have bad back problems).

This might be the Canadian version of Maske vs. Hill II...

Horrible fight but it would have been worse if Hill had come to win imo. Hill was still active, if the Hill of the Brudov fight had come instead of a shadow it would have been a massacre.
