Not really. Just kind of neutral additions. He was once 48-2 with victories over Barrera and Pacquiao and a 3 weight champ.

That's a ridiculous resume.

 

He was very much past his prime, and still did very well against both. I would say slightly but not a lot.

 

I agree with boon, it slightly does. But what a performance that was against Maidana! Still one of my favorite Morales' fight! And he is in my top 5 favorite fighters of all time. I love that fight so much because he fought great solely on his skills, while being in bad physical shape, old and a few divisons over his natural weightclass. I haven't seen the first Garcia fight in a long time, have to rewatch it. Respect for creating this thread!

 

I thought his performance against David Diaz is very underrated. That first round knockdown of Diaz was epic. Diaz caught Morales with a big shot, Morales backs away into the ropes then comes back with a hard right hand that floored Diaz. It was a fricken war for 12 rounds. It was one of the more entertaining bouts I can remember.

Below Diaz's eye was swoll up like a golf ball. DD got the decision but it could have very easily been scored for Morales.

 

Had Maidana not been made to wear the pillow like Winning Gloves, he would have sent Morales out of the ring on a stretcher. Not sure why Morales gets a pass for that foolishness. Making opponents wear Winning gloves so that he could take the shots better.

 

Not sure it helps but doesn't hurt it. He came back WELL over his prime weight n took young top guys very deep. It certainly illustrated how insanely good he was and that there is an ever present gap between Good fighters, even champions, and truly great fighters.
