Buntsma is absolutely pounding Menoche around the place here.

Holy hell. Menoche is the dumbest prospect I've seen in a long time. Seriouisly...ring IQ of the square root of baked potato. He lumbered straight back into a corner and just lay there while Ridsdill-Buntsma flurried on him for a solid 90 seconds, and got through with some looping shots that rocked Menoche...and still, no defensive adjustments. No tie-up. No pull-counter o check-hook. Just...lay there and waited it out, hoping a perfect spot would open up for a hail-Mary counter although he wasn't doing anything to create one and wasn't letting anything go in the meantime.

Horrible round for Menoche. If he was going for rope-a-dope, then he's the dope, because this is a 4-rounder and he just lost two rounds in a row, tying it up on my card. If he loses the fourth, he loses his zero, period.

    10-9 Ridsdill-Buntsma

    28-28

They did. But there are a couple of differences here.

    1) They went through the trouble of recruiting people who wanted to fight in the division, made a top 15 which had been in place for some time, and the guy fighting for the title ranked #15 in those rankings. This is absurd, and shows that THE WBC does to think that this is a real title. Get me Romanov now, please.

    2) On of the two heavyweight champions, a man who made himself a legend in 19 fights, is fighting underneath this limit, so there is no raison detre for this at this time whatsoever. Maybe ten yeas from now.

Oscar Rivas has had a somewhat interesting career.

As an amateur managed to go to the Olympics, beat guys like Andy Ruiz, Kubrat Pulev and Mike Wilson, but smashed by guys like Hunter, Cammarelle and Glazkov. So a decent career.

As a pro it took him a while to get his big money fights, got fights with Washington and Mansour cancelled due to eye problems (somehow he doesn't have this problems for some reason )

Koed in Jennings in the final round in his best career win, a fight I had him losing.

The got his fight opportunity against Whyte in the UK and all honesty got screwed big time: Whyte popping dirty, ref helping Whyte and glove last minute change.

And now two years later he will have the chance to become a world champion in the so called ''Bridgerweight division".....

also isn't this technically the Undisputed Brigerweight championship since the WBC is the only organization which recognizes the division?

38-37 Ridsdill-Buntsma, hope they don't rob him. (but they will)

He did have Menoche wobbled against the ropes with about twenty seconds left, and scoring a 10-8 of his own would have given him some insurance and maybe robbery-proofed the performance...alas, couldn't whack him all the way down.

Of twelve minutes of fight time, Menoche looked like lackadaisical warmed-over crap for the last ten of them.

    Boo.

Good on the commentators for at least deriding the wider scorecard, but you could tell even they didn't believe their diplomat waffling attempts in defending the pair of 38-37 for Menoche as 'reasonable'. They weren't reasonable. He got swept in rounds 2-4, each as clearly as you can lose a round of boxing. As clearly as Ridsdill-Buntsma lost the first 10-8.

Jumped in at the 3rd. Menoche didn't do that badly in the 4th, landing some nice counters through the first 2:30. Buntsma closed strong and looked to take the round back, so if the fight proceeded according to everyone's report over the first two then Buntsma's probably unlucky to not get the verdict.

Too bad Buntsma's glove touched down, because he could easily have gotten a draw in a fight he clearly was expected to lose.

Commentators advised that per local regulations, the ring will be cleaned and sanitized in between each bout on the card - so delays of about 15 minutes at least separating them all. There are two more 4-rounders and one 6-rounder ahead of the Rivas vs. Rozicki main event.

If no stoppages, that means nearly two hours (~100min) before ring walks for the inaugural bridgerweight title bout. Rough guess 9:20pm EST.

Well...38-37 is somewhat defensible as per my previous post, if you give Menoche benefit of the doubt and place greater emphasis on the facf that Menoche probably landed the better single shots during the first 2:30.

That said, you could have called the third 10-8 for Buntsma, even without a KD. Menoche just got labeled in that frame.

First look here at 6-foot four-inch Québécois southpaw Barrière, called "Canada's most promising pipeline prospect at heavyweight"...coming in 3-0 (3).

You have to feel sorry for Buntsma - that should have been a clear 38-37 in his favour, very easy to score.
