Bit of a soft-looking protuberant gut on Rafaga...if Barrière is smart he'll focus on the Mexican's body from the start.

He does just that, indeed. Gets a chintzy knockdown call in the first half-minute with a step on Rafaga's toe and then a swat-down more than anything...but he is committing with some left uppercuts downstairs behind a downward right jab. It doesn't so much wear Sánchez down for a body shot KO as it gets him to bend over with his gloves down and expose himself to head shots, getting him dropped again.

HOLY CRAP! Barrière himself then gets kerplunked! What a fun (but shitshow to score) HW round!

This time the favourite is dropped in the opening round, interesting.

I remember that first cruiserweight title fight. Mate Parlov was a former light heavyweight champ. I didn't know who Marvin Camel was. It ended in a draw. I thought they would drop the whole idea.

But they had the rematch on the untelevised undercard of Holmes-Leroy Jones. Didn't even know who won until I bought a boxing magazine a few months later.

Most thought of it as a place where old light heavyweights would go to die.

Nobody in the States really paid attention until Leon Spinks moved down years later.

But that was when the limit was 190.

The fact that one guy came in tonight 21 pounds under the limit ... and Rivas is probably in the 230s by now kind of defeats the whole purpose of providing a space where guys don't have to give up so much weight.

Oscar's opponent said he had to gorge himself to get up to 203.

That's pretty early for an east coast North American fight card headliner, all things considered. :sisi1

Sánchez has a strange looking body, actually. His back, chest, and arms are all decently enough toned and muscled, but then he has these doughy love handles and a sloping fupa.

Oh and skinny Wilderesque chicken legs.

If he can stay off his derrierre, this should be easy work for Barrière.

A four rounder and a six rounder, so about an hour.

Osias took a UD. I only had a half an eye on it, and he did seem the deserving winner as he was fitter, tidier, faster, stronger, and got the better of the action in most rounds - but not exactly by a blowout in any of them. Which...isn't all that flattering, considering he came in 9-0 while "Bandolero" Murrieta came in 9-9-3. You shouldn't be shading rounds 60-40 in a showcase like this.

Murrieta's a bit bitter than his record suggests, or at least capable of upending the occasional undefeated guy...But based on what I saw Osias had it pretty much his own way from bell to bell. He wasn't spectacular, but he was clearly in control against a guy who appeared to have more potential to trouble him than the other B-sides had versus their respective A-side opponents.
