Mooted for September 10th, as the main event (paired w/ Nakatani vs. Acosta) on ESPN. WBC super featherweight title at stake, 1st defense of Valdez. Conceição, who took gold for Brazil in the Rio Olympics in 2016, is ranked #15 by the WBO but elsewise absent from all world rankings at present.

Rematch of the Pan-Am Games in 2009, where Conceição defeated Valdez to claim the gold medal. Somebody's "0" in the pros (in the NC or draw column if nothing else) will have to go!

Valdez fought so beautiful against Berchelt. Distance and timing was A+. Was rooting for Berchelt and nothing I could do but applaud (well, after freaking out multiple times at Berchelts ability to stay on his feet). Will look forward to Valdez fights... Is Robson a worthy-ish realistic first defense? Never seen.

He was a Big Deal™ in the amateurs, struggled more in the semi-pros (WSB), and hasn't really stepped up yet professionally. Valdez will be a colossal leap in class.

    Here is Robson's last fight:

Conceicao is solid. He's got pretty good size and a nice jab, but his technique isn't great and he isn't a puncher. His sense of distance and timing is above average, too, which makes sense, given his amateur background. He was hurt pretty bad against Coria, but had enough craft to survive and eek out a victory.

This is out of the Top Rank playbook, though. They like to set their pros up against guys who defeated them in the amateurs as a means to sell a fight. They did this with Cotto (Abdullaev, Pinto), Conlan (Nikitin), and now Valdez. I see Valdez as a vulnerable fighter, despite his victory over Berchelt, which I think has some smoke and mirrors around it. Valdez will rightly be a favorite against Conceicao, but I would not be shocked to see Conceicao win.

Conceição will have five inches of height and four of reach on Valdez.

BoxRec has Valdez ranked #1 and Conceição way down at #46 at super feather.

You can bet your ass Arum dangled a nice chunk of change at Albert Selimov to lure him into turning over for Loma to destroy. :deal:

Interestingly Loma said not long after he turned pro that if he could fight (in the pro ranks) any of the amateurs he fought he'd like a fight with Verdejo.. he must have really rated him .. he was a highly rated prospect at one point tho wasn't he, I can see why too.. Skilful, quick athletic, good looking boxer type.. wasted talent. POS human being it turned out too though. On a side note Loma also beat the two men above. I like Valdez , I picked him to beat Berchelt… I'd actually like to see Loma fight him instead of the Nakatanis but he seems set on revenge at 135.

I can imagine. He should have taken it, if it was proposed. He would have collected a good payday for it.

Selimov is someone I wished would have turned professional. He was a high-quality boxer. He collected wins over a lot of good amateurs, including Conceicao.

Hopefully Stevenson-Herring gets made and the winners can fight each other at the end of the year/start pof next year for undisputed.

At that point TR will essentially have every belt between 130-140.

Canelo, Valdez, and probably Ruiz too are all cheaters. Anyone buying Garcia's "mental health" excuse a month before the Fortuna fight now?

There isn't a comission that can over rule the tribe? If not then what the **** is the purpose of drug testing. This is poor.
