valdez beat this guy up the whole fight. sure he was tough, but he was beat in every single dept. close rds does not necessarily mean a close fight, valdez showed his superiority throughout the fight.
marriaga will not have a size advantage vs loma, so he will not be walking off all the punishment like he did with oscar, i expect loma, as a more complete fighter, to stop marriaga mid rds.

Whoever you think won, even if you think Valdez was better, before the 10th he never "beat this guy up". Even in the rounds he won he never repeatedly landed punches and physically forced Marriaga back. Not at all. He often hit gloves, and when he did land Marriaga took it and kept coming. You're kind of contradicting yourself saying Valdez beat him up "the whole fight', yet Marriaga 'walked off the punishment'. If Valdez actually beat Marriaga up Marriaga would've slowed down his aggression and efficient, calculating punching. On the contrary, a generally closely contested fight does not necessarily mean Valdez had to take as many rounds.

As much as I praise Marriaga as a world-class boxer, I don't think he troubles Loma or survives past the mid rounds either. He might be better than Rodriguez, Koasicha, and Martinez, but he's not as good as Walters or Sosa, and they only brought out the best in Loma. That he could've got the nod against Valdez just means he deserves this fight, when several top 130 lbers wouldn't step up with Loma.

not a contradiction at all, marriaga was eating hard leather from rd 1 to the end. he is tough and has good speed and thats what kept him in the fight with valdez, but oscar did everything better than him... everything.
now he is facing a bigger, more skilled and accomplished fighter in loma, who by all rights should have an easier time vs a tough but average little guy. loma should shine like mikey did vs broner.
