N'Dam N'Jikam is getting jabbed in the head and positioned on the ropes, where Chudinov starts clubbing him with rights even as N'Dam N'Jikam detonates short hooks on his chin while sagging his back into the ropes for extra buoyancy. The ref comes in to extricate them as they get tangled against the ropes. N'Dam N'Jikam dances to his left and starts flying upward at Chudinov with ambush 1-2s, but the Russian is staying in first gear as he cruises towards the Cameroonian, and is thus able to apply the brakes and lean back in time to make N'Dam N'Jikam miss.

Bad week for babyface underdogs... first Joe Hughes yesterday and now HNN, beaten up cleanly.

 

Round 6

N'Dam N'Jikam is now coming forward, a perhaps desperation-fueled but ill-advised move as Chudinov, bemusedly, hangs back and picks his spots, letting N'Dam N'Jikam lean into short counter hooking combos on the face, only pulling trigger when his opponent is near enough for beads of each other's sweat to pelt & further moisten both men's faces. N'Dam N'Jikam is trying hard to fight his way back into this, and is slamming down with the right hand somewhat effectively at times, but mostly just as rabbit punches as Chudinov shells up tightly and bows forward, waiting for his moment to strike.

Yeah if the second half is just going to be a continuation or worsening of this, I think I'd rather just see N'Dam N'Jikam pull a hamstring or something and have it called off on a fluke injury TKO than see a longtime hero of mine take a prolonged career-ending beat-down from a guy who doesn't quite have the 1-punch KO pop to make a quick & merciful end of things.

 

Round 7

N'Dam N'Jikam is locking horns with Chudinov in the middle of the ring, foreheads butting together like a pair of male rams vying for turf, and they proceed to reach up and engage in ferocious, primarily head-hunting in-fighting. Chudinov gets the best of most of it, but N'Dam N'Jikam occasionally plants a hard right just behind Chudinov's ear and saps his equilibrium momentarily. Chudinov is spun out and hit behind the head, and N'Dam N'Jikam rushes in thinking he has an opening to exploit, but Chudinov soon rallies and drives N'Dam N'Jikam back across the ring.

Round 8

N'Dam N'Jikam lands an incidental low blow and Chudinov spits his mouthpiece. Without awaiting the ref's instructions, Chudinov takes initiative and sprints over to his corner, beckoning them for a replacement. Time in. N'Dam N'Jikam is trudging onward, chin hanging out a few inches ahead of his feet, flurrying out with both hands as he gallops unto the breach, proving he's a gladiator, but eating some HUGE drilling rights and left hooks from Chudinov, who is brutally effective just standing in place and lining up short-range power shots at an oncoming target directly in front of him.
