Either the full card or just the prelims are set to also stream on the Shamo Boxing channel on YouTube. :ggg

Papin is still an underrated dark horse at CW. Hopefully he has a big fight this year.

Yep. To be clear, this won't be it.

All due respect to Pesjar, but if you can't even best Pavel Sour for the lowly Czech heavyweight title, you're not going to bother a prospect who pushed Makabu to a MD in their only professional defeat to date. :deal:

Oh yeah...I described him in the Oganisyan vs. Troya poll & preview thread as "Nathan Fillion lookalike" but he is honestly more a three-way meld of Fillion, Rob Gronkowski, Sweating Two Button Meme Guy, and Jonathan Joestar.

@CST80 how's that for an eclectic (and dare I say incredibly accurate) recipe? :sisi1

Weird, no Shamo feed yet.. :dunno

11 fights to get through, with the main event probably on about 4pm EST. Really ought to be getting underway.

Papin going nowhere. He's way too one-dimensional. Fayfer outboxed him easily and made him look like a fool until the stoppage. Don't see him as a dark horse. He's also heading towards his mid 30s...and hasn't beaten one decent guy.

Damn, you've been a negative Nancy lately. :dunno

First with calling Oganiysan terrible and supporting that by saying you also don't rate Charrat and Kurbanov, basically writing them all off as bums and hamstringing any credit Oganisyan could possibly get for an impressive showing versus Troya. Now you're piling on Papin, for no reason, since nobody AFAIK is overrating him to an extent of saying that Briedis, Dorticós, Okolie, Goulamirian or the fledgling bridgerweights ought to all be checking their six for him.

So, what, all but the uppermost fourth or fifth percentile of the sport are garbage that you have no time for? Considering everyone but p4p rated champions beneath you is a fairly prissy stance - hell, even @CST80 the notorious anti-hipster will occasionlly let his hair down and enjoy some 4-rounder club-fighters on undercards, or regional talents from rinky-dinky countries without a major boxing footprint whose potential caps out at maybe a domestic title.

Papin has beaten several decent guys, if we're to affix the word 'decent' with reasonable parameters. Fayfer, Jur, Shihepo, Sillakh, and Ahumada - all inside half the scheduled distances. Granted, none of them ever quite penetrated the real yolk of 'world class elite', some of them as fringey as fringe contenders get (although Sillakh was considered a real player at one point before his chin was exposed, and Shihepo gave Abraham hell, albeit eight years back), and most were past their best when he fought them - but that's kind of the formula in boxing, no? Young (or at least 'on the rise', as yes the clock is ticking for Papin, a crossover from kickboxing) guys start out feasting on tomato cans and then graduate to guys with recognizable names but not longer posing major danger anymore, on their way to hopefully getting into actual contention. Well, he went that route, and came up short versus Makabu - but he wasn't humiliated. It went the distance, and one judge had it a draw in spite of Papin being on the loser's end of a 10-8 round.

Honest critique is one thing, but you're not balancing out all your nitpicking humbuggery with anything positive to say - and so you just come off as some grumpy snob who isn't satisfied unless he's watching the crème de la crème.

I do not want to stir the pot because i have no desire to fight with anyone here but i consider Papin a good fighter because i rate him in the top 100 of his weight class which means i am more then interested in following him and watching his fights.

Every time a match is well balanced and fighters are a little bit equal in skill i am in for it .
Just want to see a good fight period.

You said it was a good stoppage win for Oganisyan over Dmitry. I responded why i think it was a win with a big fat asteriks behind. You didn't respond to that. I took it as a "I don't care"....fine. I have no problems with that. But why are you bringing it back to this discussion after not responding to a very solid responding from myself? Strange way to support and introduce an argument.

I'm still watching their fights because i'm a gambler and i don't care if a guy is great, just good, bad, terrible or whatever. I care about matchups, odds and percentages. And obviously i do care about making money. I'm watching - like you - obscure cards with low level fighters and i appreciate it.

These guys you mentioned are journeyman level fighters.

Shihepo is a natural Super Middleweight and fought Papin at CW. Shhiepo isn't a decent win at Cruiserweight considering it was his first fight ever at CW. Not sure how you can rate this as "decent"?

Fayfer is actually a decent win, i mentioned that, but Fayfer exposed Papin in a big way and made him look like a fool. And i don't think we consider Fayfer as a world level fighter. He's good but not THAT good.

If you don't like it, why are you reading it? Why are you responding? If you want to know why i think one fighter is "terrible" or "not gonna make it" i can explain it to you, but i don't think you're interested. I also don't think i have to write an essay for any fighter i criticize in here. I often gave a full analysis in here to break down fights or fighters, sometimes it's a bit shorter and maybe writing it in a more populist way. Happens. We all do that at times.

    ----

AND for the record. I never said Papin isn't a good fighter. I just said he won't win a world title. He's too one-dimensional.

These guys' KO rates are no joke. Dev is 9-0 (8) and Blanco is 12-1 (11).
