Vladimir Alekseevich Ermakov vs. Alexander Sergeevich Zubkov, 6 rounds @ cruiserweight

 

19 year old Ermakov is making his pro debut against schlubby glass cannon veteran Zubkov, who at 35 is nearly twice his age with a 9-10 record and most of his fights ending in KO.

Zubkov is 6'3", which means Ermakov has to be pushing seven foot - at least six-sevenish. Big height & reach advantage, but no stats officially listed anywhere.

 

The only notable opponents Zubkov has fought professionally are blown up former cruiser fringe contender Ruslan Fayfer, and Shigabuden Aliev - both of whom stopped him in 2 rounds.

 

RTD3! Ermakov basically beat the crap out of him from start to finish from long range. Even the jab was rocking him and the right cross nearly put him on Q Street several times.

 

Alexander Ivanovich Zyryanov vs. Asrorbek Abduvali Ogli Raximov, 6 rounds @ welterweight

 

Another big height differential. The onscreen tale-of-tape graphic had them at 172 and 180cm respectively but it seems like more to my eye. That would mean Zyryanov was about 5'9" and Raximov about 5'6.5", but there's clearly more than a couple of inches between them.

 

Raximov a lot more game than Zubkov was...both mentally tougher, grinding his way in, and more adept fighting short, digging hooks at the body. Zyryanov scoring a lot more though with jabs and uppercuts, constantly moving his feet or shoving Raximov off with both arms to create space.

 

Pretty fun little contest. Both fighting hard to keep their zero. (Raximov is 5-0 with all his previous experience at home in Uzbekistan, and this is Zyryanov's debut)

 

You know it's good when the commentators interrupt themselves midsentence to say "oooh!" every few seconds.

 

WTF was that stoppage?!

 

Raximov rightfully freaking out. He had just been tossing bombs like two secods earlier. Yeah he got hit with a couple of power combos whipped around and through his guard but he was defending himself.
