Pretty good compact pressure fighter, actually. Some real pop, too, by the panicked reactions from "Black Lightning" Osipov when anything even partially gets through his guard.

I was about to say "no relation to Imam", since in his final amateur bout Shamil Khataev was knocked out by Imam Khataev - but, uh. There is overwhelming circumstantial evidence to support a relation (both from Grozny, same middle name, fighting on the same card, same trunks/gear, and they kind of look alike)

Oddly enough, Shamil is two years Imam's junior but came in with 7 pro bouts to his presumed brother's zero. Guess that suggests - along with their h2h result - that Imam was the better amateur with more to accomplish there.

Kvitsiani seems game for it, bringing a lanky frame and some switch-hitting slickness. I'm not closely watching or scoring but could be anyone's game halfway through, nobody has dominated.

 

Wouldn't be all that shocked to see the Khataev khanate suffer its first professional blemish here, actually. Zurab has been steadily laying the leather down with long 1-2s in the second half, and clinching up when he's done to effectively nullify Shamil.
