Bit much for a guy that's sort of a footnote paper champ. From this you'd think he was some national hero.

This actually might not be in the co-main slot, it turns out.

Promotional signage for the card lists Qureish Sagov vs. Ebenezer Tetteh, which isn't on BoxRec, as the chief support. Iliev vs. Pino is definitely headlining, that much is sure.

Guess it's possible Sagov vs. Tetteh was scheduled but fell through. Or it's on and the BR editors just never added it for some reason. 50-50 chance it's either...

 

Goddamn that was a long break. ~40 minutes, spent mostly advertising upcoming MMA events.

Kevin Blue Vladimirovich "Kingpin" Johnson now entering the ring with a squad of dudes he's...managing? Coaching? I'm not sure what this is. Tag-team boxing?

 

Okay never mind, they've introduced the sides...including Bates, Tetteh, Iliev, etc.

Guess it's all normal boxing rules, 1v1 individual match-ups, but the whole card itself is considered some sort of 5v5 affair.

 

Tony Bates vs. Aslan ?? (the Cyrllic letters look like: XAMYCTXAHOB, whatever that works out to) is up first.

I guess Relikh pulled out for some reason?

 

Alright, managed to suss it out...it's this Chechen lad with a .500 record, Adlan Khamustkhanov:

21 years old, 6-6 with no kayos. Pretty big step down from even a faded Relikh tbh. Sort of a must-impress situation for our tautological Aussie friend.

 

Bates clearly the much stronger man but needs settling down. Khamustkhanov managing to make things messy enough to survive, just.

 

Bates feeling the urgency in the 4th, murdering the body with uppercuts but Khamustkhanov holding like a MF. His mission statement appears to be to ensure he loses a clean shutout on points without going down.

 

Wait, WHAT? They gave it to Khamustkhanov. Wild robbery that.

He improves to 7-6, and Bates falls to now 12-1-1.

 

Some skinny southpaw with a Russian name and receding hairline is whipping the crap out of a South American fellow lefty named something Ramírez who looks about 2-3 divisions smaller.

 

Qureish Alikhanovich Sagov vs. Ebenezer Tetteh, 8 rounds @ heavyweight

 

Round 1

Ghanaian grandfatherly glass cannon Tetteh, who is 36 (going on 63 ), is pushing out a strong left jab, plodding forward. Sagov kicking his feet out wide apart, putting tent stakes down long enough to swipe at the oncoming Tetteh with jabs and hooks. Wide haymaker by Tetteh, missing but getting a rise from the crowd.

Sagov, in all honesty, running like a biatch.

Tetteh is actually walking him down consistently, and blasting him on the ropes with partially blocked right hands that are still ringing his bell.
