The rest of the card, airing live from Sochi on Match Fighter, is pretty meh.

I'm technically working (yesterday would have been a lot more convenient! ) but it's Zoom classes, and the main event should line up roughly with lunchtime...push comes to shove I can always hit them with some meaty word problems while attending to higher priority matters like ex-Bloc super-welterweight ten-rounders.

 

Wrapping up now, entering sixth:

Andrey Alexandrovich Maklakov vs. Ramazan Nasimjonovich Alimatov, 6 rounds @ super welterweight

(only reason I know that is because they both happen to have face pics up on BoxRec to compare against )

 

Maklakov is the 6'0" lanky Russian southpaw, looking to break the deadlock of his 2022 rookie year (one victory, one loss, and one draw).

Alimatov has an edge in experience but is the obvious B-side, durable Tajik prospect fodder, 5-6-1, never stopped.

 

The shorter underdog actually doing very well down the stretch in the couple of rounds i caught; buzzsaw hooks & overhands landing in multiples on his tiring fellow 24 year old as he applied full steam ahead pressure.

 

Oh damn, they gave it to him!

Alimatov, upset UD!

 

They've officially switched places now - Alimatov has a .500 record, and Maklakov a losing one.

Professional debut for the Armenian-Russian, while the Kazakh enters at 0-1 having lost his own debut in August.
