Gevorgyan is a 6'2" prospect from St. Pete making some big ambitious moves early in his career. His debut was fourteen months ago versus respected journeyman Konstantin Piternov, dropping and shutting out "The Volga Cossack". Gevorgyan hasn't fought since; this is his sophomore outing. Karasev is a Lithuanian now based in Russia who loses about three-quarters of his matches, but has only been stopped eight times in 58 starts...and only by undefeated prospects or European level contenders.

I tell you whut - Karasev isn't doing too bad here. I doubt he'll get the upset if this goes to scorecards, but he is exposing some major deficiences in Gevorgyan, particularly his defensive game. The little tatted underdog is also not just standing in his corner between rounds, but pacing from rope to rope and staring Gevorgyan down...getting all up in that psyche and squatting rent-free.

Karasev ducking the jab, at worst getting his brow grazed with it, and parrying Gevorgyan's attempts to spear him in the body from outside with down-slaps. Karasev leaping in and slashing up at the face of Gevorgyan with both hands, overhand right leads followed by left hooks arcing up from the hip, forcing the big lad to clinch as his arms seem almost too akwardkly long and gangly for him to defend himself on the inside otherwise.

Karasev's last victory over somebody with a positive record was a KO2 over Manur Ismailov, then 4-0. If things keep up the way they've been, he could well deserve to eke out a draw if not even a 58-56 here...but whether he gets a fair shake from the judges for his efforts is another thing.

Gevorgyan is planting a couple of 1-2s on him per round, enough to pad up the slow motion highlight reel and maybe justify giving him rounds in which he is largely getting made to miss and pieced up by the gnat-like combos of Karasev darting in.

Yeah, don't think Gevorgyan should escape here without some kind of blemish. If he does, handlers need to slow their roll - obviously emboldened by the domination of Piternov in his debut. He wasn't ready for this step up and it showed.

They give the kid the decision. Karasev is a good sport about it, applauding Gevorgyan and giving him a hug. Seems to have been under no illusions that he would've needed a KO to get the W.

Uzbek-Kazakhstani vs. Armenian-Russian, with the latter more than doubling the novice's experience but also with nearly as many defeats as Shegaliyev has bouts. Dilanyan has mixed with the much stiffer competition, but never successfully.

Heavy shot at the bell caught on the gloves but sends Dilaynan onto his keister anyhow. Ref doesn't rule it a KD, although many in his place might've.

Osipov is the cocky "young (dark) Brad Pitt" lookalike in white and fighting orthodox. Tararyshkin is the rather stiff and nervous-faced southpaw in grey.
