This is why I've always hated Wilder, the complete and utter lack of respect, in particular for past greats of the sport. It hurts his legacy and standing in the sport and seriously narrows his fanbase.

I cannot remember the last time I sat through a whole interview of his as he talks complete and utter bollocks. This morning, after a great fight where he showed supreme levels of bravery and heart he once again pisses away any chance of truly gaining the universal respect he so obviously craves.

What respect are Fury and his fans showing Wilder. Like I said there is no rule that says they have to like or respect each each other. Not everyone is a gentleman with manners unfortunately.

No he is not. I have seen it before. See Tyrone Trice after he lost to Simon Brown.

Yes there is but not everyone abides by it. To each their own. Lots of harsh words spoken on both sides. Its not our role to tell Wilder how to conduct himself. Yes I personally don't like him but he is what he is.

I acknowledge his bravery by showing a tremendous amount of heart. Went out on his shield, so what do you do? You shake his hand for being an absolute warrior. It's about being a man, you can't defend the indefensible.

It's boxing, it's sport. A very brutal one I might add but they're warriors so honor the warriors' code. Show some bleeding respect.

Can't say I'm surprised. He refused to give Fury any credit last time with all the excuses and claims of cheating so we should of expected the same this time.

Maybe with time Wilder will reflect and gain new perspective and do the honourable thing but I seriously doubt it.

Not gonna lie this whole respect after such a bitter build up is very overblown and more a case of fighters saving face. Look at Prograis after the Taylor fight, all smiles and respect, later they're back at each others throats again. Wilder will probably give respect only when in his mind there is no possibility of another fight between them, which he seems to think there is.

The fact that you have to go back over 30 years for your example confirms my point.
These are rare exceptions. Most fighters, the vast majority, make at least a brief show of respect and acknowledgment. I'd say at least 99% actually.

Nothing wrong with that either. I am simply saying not everyone is the same.
