12 rounds - I think stylistically this is JT’s favourite sort of guy to tussle with, he can handle the power but no matter RBs inclination to fight the way he does RB is still 6ft5 and 230lbs (more or less?) I don’t know. Just something that hasn’t been done In ages or ever?
I don't think he could handle Bowe's power. Even prime Holyfield eventually cracked from the sheer accumulation
I think Bowe would have stopped him. Toney would have wound him up that much at the pre fight conference s, by the time he gets in the ring he's ready to murder him!
Bowe wins, probably by UD. I am not confident in picking anybody to stop Toney cause he has not been stopped in close to 100 fights, especially if James puts his mind on survival during in the fight. Toney was a 5ft10 former middleweight, seems a bit unfair in matching him with Head to Head ATGs heavyweights.
Bowe easy ... the prime Bowe was a real fighter , used his size and power and was also a terrific body puncher .. he excelled against smaller fighters as his blow outs of Cooper and others show ... Toney was a terrific fighter but his success at heavyweight was as much about exposing specific big men's limitations as it was his own offensive skills ... it plays out poorly for him vs that Bowe ...
Toney never faced a jab like Bowe`s, Riddick would out-point Toney on the outside, on the inside things would be pretty even, I just think Bowe`s jab would be an important factor.
I agree to a large degree but Bowe would miss more shots than he did in most of his other fights due to Toney being better in a defensive sense than all of Bowe`s opponents despite Holy being the greatest all-around fighter that Bowe ever fought.
Toney would have a good chance as he would weigh more than Holy did in his fight v Bowe, Holy only weighed 205 lb in his first fight v Bowe.
1992 is Bowe's best year, and he wins one way or another. It's much more likely that Bowe wins by decision. I don't see how James Toney could beat Bowe in 1992. Bowe was the #1 Heavyweight that year.
Toney was a defensive master, but 6'5 240 pounds of Bowe is a helluva lot incoming heavy artillery to defend against, added which as Fergy rightly said, Toney would have wound Bowe up prefight, so the incoming barrage from Bowe would have real ill intent. Mr Bowe would have a big 'W' on his record, and i reckon Mr Toney would be nursing some lumps, bruises and a headache.
Toney may well have weighed more than Bowe, the fat sod. Winner gets the kitchen. Make it a fight worth watching.
I'm a Toney fan but I just don't think the old-ish James Toney who beat the old Evander Holyfield would have enough tricks in his bag to defeat Prime Riddick Bowe.
After Bowe beats him in the ring they both have a contest at McDonald’s. Toney wins by a couple of Big Macs. They then have a decider at KFC. I take Bowe to win that by a couple of buckets.
I just see Bowe over powering him to either pound out a decision or even hand Toney his only stoppage loss
