For me, there's only 2 choices. This content is protected (went up in weight and smoked 2 never-been-smoked dudes in 1 round for a total of 2 KOs in 2 rounds) This content is protected (very close contest w/ Breidis, schooled Gassiev, and will be fighting Bellew)
AJ has to be on the list of top 5. Love him or hate him, beating Parker and Povetkin is still far ahead of most fighters people will name. 2 previous good world champions beaten in the same year. He has to be in there somewhere. But yeah, Usyk all day every day for me. Doesn't get much better than Briedis and Gassiev. And if he beats Bellew, that puts him out of reach, nobody else comes close this year. Like, when can you remember a fighter doing 3 fights in a year, all involving the best 3 at the weight. Just doesn't happen. Maybe Crawford? Benavidez and Horn isn't TOO bad. Other than that? Struggling. Most guys have either fought bums or fought one top talent and then gone injured or haven't fought another opponent yet.
The top contenders for me: 1. Usyk- wins against Breidis Gassieve Bellew (yeah I know they haven't technically fought yet, but Usyk is a huge favorite here) 2. AJ- Povitkin Parker Other notables would be lomachenko with the Lineres win, Canelo with the GGG* win, Garcia with the Easter fight. I would agree with most of the others, Usyk clearly stands out above the rest.
