I’m looking to see if Canelo can get to mid range and then see what he can do. If he’s able to get mid/close on Kovalev and let his hands go without taking any real punishment then he’s in with a real chance as he’s the quicker, cleaner combination puncher. Canelo is a tank I’m intrigued on how he handles a heavy handed guy at 175, looking forward to the fight and just hope if it indeed goes to the cards there is no stupid outcomes. Imo it’s more to do with what Kovalev has left at this stage in his career and what he’ll be able to give to the fight which is going to affect the outcome.
I think Canelo bit off more than he can chew. I can't see a 5'7/5'8 guy being successful at 175. When Canelo was coming up I always knew he was going to end up at MW based on his muscular body and I felt that he would have issues against the top guys because of his height. He's proven that he can handle MW. but 175 is a while other monster. I expect Canelo to get hit flush a few times early on and go into survival mode to lose a decision. If he does try to hurt Kovalev I think he may get stopped. With that said, I won't completely dismiss Canelo because he seems like he is very serious about giving it his best and seems like a very smart and calculated fighter.
Canelo landed more power punches, and landed more body shots along with having a better defensive game. That's the difference.
Lara clearly ran and lost vs Canelo, Golovkin clearly "outworked" Canelo but only in the jab dept. and Trout clearly lost to Canelo so stop the BS son. I'll give you credit though you seem to be a bigger fan of Canelo than I am.
GGG was FAR more willing to trade with Canelo than he was with Lemiex. Lemieux is the only fighter GGG avoided trading with at all cost.
I think Canelo will win because Kovelav's a shell of his old self but the fact is as long Canelo get's to the final bell he will "win" whatever happens.
