I agree with that. Being tied to Alvarez and Golden Boy definitely gave GGG a broader audience he struggled to tap into. It’s not easy becoming a US household name as a boxer. Alvarez is the most popular boxer by a landslide and even he’s not a household name but he’s the closest thing to it.

GGG doesn’t have a big time promotional company backing him like Golden Boy or Top Rank, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t done a good job promoting Golovkin. He has a lot going against him as a Eastern European boxer in a niche sport.

Let’s be honest.....How many boxers really cross over? Manny, Mayweather, DLH, Tyson. We had others that were very close....but outside of the early to mid 90’s heavyweights, we really haven’t seen a real boxer that became a true star.

I think if Golden Boy has a real influence on the p4p rankings Alvarez would have been a lot higher on the list, but that would have been way too obvious. The magazines is actually held in an editorial trust where they Operate totally independent of any influence from DLH or others from the Golden Boy companies as it relates to editorial direction or content.

Ring p4p rankings is pretty much the gold standard but there are a lot of independent p4p rankings that have GGG at the top or in the top 3. Golovkin is considered a top fighter in the sport based on his dominance, knockout ratio and ring accomplishments in the middleweight division.

Loma is in a unique spot being a relatively inexperienced world champion having only 10 pro fights and around 80 rounds under his belt. While his accomplishments in just 4 years has been nothing short of amazing, it’s hard to justify putting him at #1 without more professional fights. His skills, talent and natural abilities without question put him in the top 3....Terrance Crawford I think should be #1....but I’m OK with GGG having the distinction.

If Loma beats Rig, he will undoubtedly unseat GGG or Crawford.

I had it 8 rounds to 4 in GGGs favour

After round 2, all El Pollo did was run

which fights could have been made at MW that weren't then?
golovkin, like Hopkins, wanted to rule the roost in one division. that is the fighter's choice - promotional companies can only work with opponents available
and ruling the roost doesn't guarantee that a fighter will get big money fights. both roy jones and Hopkins were never PPV drawcards

and "if the goal is to make the best money possible", I have to reference golovkin's former stablemate again, felix sturm. he made a lot of money by maintaining a lucrative german tv contract so long as he held 'a belt', but who never fought a top MW in his life and nobody outside germany will remember him for a very good reason
golovkin, on the other hand, will always be remembered and compared to past greats at MW

    1. This has proven to be just an excuse to avoid certain fights outside of MW

    Entertain us.

Ward? This horse has been beat to death, resurrected, then beat to death again.
DeGale on 2-3 weeks notice? Sure, why the hell not, right? Clearly a duck.

A shot and a miss again, sad little hater.

This. Every promoter and all top fighters are Snake Oil Salesman to an extent. The whole truth and nothing but the truth doesn't generate money.

Some quotes from Don King. As much as he is criticized as being a snake he isn't any different from any other promoter or salesman trying to market and sale their product.

You sign an agreement, you make a contract, you live up to it. You never get what you deserve. You get what you negotiate. You got a right to say yay or nay.

I’m one of the world’s great survivors. I’ll always survive because I’ve got the right combination of wit, grit and bullsh*t.

What a freakin moron.... ASSOL tries to bill himself as fair an unbiased, yet writes this garbage and thinks 3g actually does NOT want to face tough fights? This is what happens when overly emotional babies form unnatural attachments...

Golovkin never had to dupe me to earn himself a new fan as my criteria for becoming a fan of any boxer is contingent only on whether or not I enjoy watching their fights.
