I don't see how you are so unable to grasp this very basic point. It is irrelevant whether Mayweather would have agreed to the offer because Ward still made it. You cannot bag Golovkin for apparently being willing to fight other fighters at 168 (and I have not actually seen any conclusive evidence of this) but wanting 164 for Ward, without doing the same to Ward who categorically stated publicly that he would go to160 for another fighter but would not even consider a catchweight against Golovkin.

 

ward didn't make an offer.....he said he'd do it in an interview....there were never any actual discussions about ward/Floyd....and it was a quote that was not in the realm of reality because of what ive pointed out several times

ward actually reached out to k2 about a fight and had contact......its you who is unable to grasp a difference that should be fairly easy to recognize

Ward "reached out to" K2 about a fight, on the proviso that it was one with the deck stacked in his favour, i.e. at his weight AND a 50/50 purse split against a more popular fighter.

However, that has no relevance to the point I was making which was that you cannot criticise one fighter for (allegedly) being willing to fight other guys at 168 but wanting the Ward fight at catchweight, without also criticising Ward who stated publicly that he was willing to face other fighters at 160, but wanted to Golovkin fight at a weight to suit him and wouldn't even compromise on a catchweight. It's fairly obvious that K2 were the party who were at least willing to compromise.

This. There's big money to be made against Canelo. And Canelo's head in a box in GGG's resume will look good.

 

GGG is what he is. a come forward boxer that has a huge punch. He's willing to take two punches to land his one. Eventually though he'll face a boxer that can move and counter, and his style will come undone, but that's boxing. Doesn't mean he's overrated, even though that's what many will claim, but every style has it's pros and cons.
